lolz goofers, i completely forgot that...;-) needed you to come remind me of the obvious solution... "we" sometimes get too 'techie"... thx...
U R so right ! GoDaddy have that 1click install !!
beat me up !!!
WebNeedy indicated this is the 1st time... ;-) Sometimes the terms we use can get mixed up - created a DB could mean the mysql installation, not the actual database with a CREATE DATABASE. I try to ask the simplest question first that may seem too silly to ask - not to put anyone down but to understand the problem and to make sure.
Then remove the old db. make a new one have godaddy tech install. Shazam installation is their support problem. They even will tell you that they will support the elgg product. The simplest answer is sometimes the best answer.
Now if you are using godaddy... 2 things are a must or elgg will not run right. Unlimited bandwidth, and unlimited disk space. Oh and remember that if you are shared you can not restart apache if you run into problems. Next with godaddy on shared you have no idea on WHO is on the share (you can look it up), but here's the catch, that server IP may have spammers or others doing thing that get that server BLOCKED by search engines.
