    I want to take my membership list from one elgg database to a new clean install both are 1.5 and the new site is empty I don't want to take anything else other than the ability of the members to be able to sign in on the new site with there existing...
    • @MJ

      Bad idea to directly copy db tables..

      You should try export users from old Elgg .. then import into new Elgg.. using Elgg functions... Message me directly if you want my code to do this ;-)

    • You're gonna need to bring over the entities table also.

      you have a one-to-many between entities.guid  -< users_entity.guid

    • No

      that was the idea I didn't want the entities table as far as I am aware this was not done Although I could be wrong on this as It was Dhrup who did this with his Magic code He did 11000 members on Sunday for me and it worked fine. Copied out of 1 db and injected into a new clean one

      Dhup is after all "The MAN"

  • vahikt replied on the discussion topic Hardcoding widgets on the profile page in the group Elgg Technical Support
    Ive been going through the elgg system trying to figure out how to hardcode the widgets on a profile page. I'd like to have control over what appears vs. the user. Someone correct me if Im wrong, but here's what I discovered. A new instance of the...
    • I think I got the answer to what I was trying to do. I'll post it here in case anyone else wants to get their hands dirty.

      So, rather than running the standard get_widgets call, Im going to run this sql for the profile page:

      select e.*, p.* from entities e, private_settings p where p.entity_guid = e.guid and owner_guid = '[some user_id]' and p.name = 'handler';

      This will give me a list of entities and private settings. I can then create a stdClass object to instantiate the widget class.

      This is a very simple explanation of what will happen, I can get into more details (and code) if necessary. Keep in mind, this does involve hacking the crap out of a canvas layout among other files.

    • There was a plugin already built that did this called sticky widgets it was released under V1.2 It may work for V1.5 or maybe you could adapt it  Just a suggestion
