to put more light into this problem - I don't want the frontpage/customindex page to display the layout_header, layout_canvas or layout_footer. I want to display my own custom index there which means my own CSS too.
I have managed to do that previousy by overwriting the page_elements/ views but it results in bad issues for other stuff, for example - the registration page is just showing some html page without Elgg's proper layout (header, canvas, footer) because I disabled it for non logged-in users.
Arggg... would be nice to get some input regarding this.
Liri, I dont know if this is what you are looking to do, but I have found some info on customization...

hope this helps!
That referes to an older version of Elgg.
Know ones that refer to an more up-to-date version?
Thanks
Screwing up your files can damage any PHP app. The solution is to not put non-plugins in mod. Delete the folder or move it elsewhere.

Yes, delete it from your Mod folder as Kevin suggested, but I don't understand why natural-brown-theme gives this problem. It works at my site, though it's not my chosen theme.
