Jeroen, Thank you so much for your help. This is good. May I ask an additional question? I looked all over the elgg.org plugin site but I could not find the widget_pack anywhere. Even in your list of available plugins. Unless I'm missing something, it isn't there. So, since I depend on the elgg.org plugin site to keep me up to date, besides coming here to ask the question, how would I have known that the widget_pack existed? I googled/elgged the problem, but did not find the answer. So I finally came here. I do see that you say it is mentioned in the widget_manager release notes at github for 7.0, but since I don't participate in github in any kind of regularity, rather I depend on elgg.org, I don't know how I would be in the know. The Widget Manager 8.3.2 description at elgg.org said, "see below for widgets", but there was none below. It would have been helpful if the widget_pack was mentioned in the widget-manager description and explained how to get it at github as you did above. This would have saved a LOT of time. OR, I need to condition myself not to depend on elgg.org. Thoughts? Thanks again.
We maintain hundreds of plugins. Not all make it to the community or maybe uploaded later. The version history of a plugin is bundled within the plugin (CHANGES.txt). Especially with major releases (6.x -> 7.x for example) you need to read the release notes. Not doing that can result in unexpected changes. Major updates tend to break features, remove features or change them.
Thank you so much for the advice. Reading the CHANGES.txt is one thing that I do every time I update. But often I don't understand what I'm reading. Not a programmer of plugins, it's jumble mumble to me. But now that I look, I see I missed this...
7.0 (2016-10-06):
But, since the widget_pack plugin is not listed anywhere on elgg.org site, I still would not have known how to find it other than messaging here.
So, I'm still not sure the proper plan of attack. It appears github is the get all for these things, but as non-plugin programmer, it's a bit messy for me to comprehend. And I know you all are very busy so I don't like wasting your time.
Anyway, thank you for your help. I'm sure I would not have found the answer to this problem without you.
