You should take a look at the wire plugin released by JHU/APL. It has a higher character limit.

If not, do a search for 160 in the wire code: http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/How_do_I_find_the_code_that_does_x%3F

You need to change the character in at least 4 places. If you decide to do it manually, read this thread or this post

Thanks everyone for the quick reply, I figure it was something that simple I overlooked. Problem resolved and I think I'll go see about some glasses now -.-'

I guess a more specific question would be do I need to copy all of the user's files from the old install to the new one and my tables from the original DB to the new one to achieve my goal or will I simply wind up breaking everything by doing that?
