THANK YOU!!! It seems I was doing the right thing (after initially configuring it incorrectly), but what I didn't realize I had to do was drop all the tables to fully reset before putting in the correct url.

I've registered as the first admin & have access to the system ... now I get to figure out how in the world to configure this thing & make it do what I want it to do - which is a whole new challenge I can take on now that it's working.

@dave, the url is stored in the database and could have been edited there. Of course, now that you've been through the install process once it was probably just as fast to just drop the tables and start over. Good luck with building your site.

Thanks Cash! Im def gonna need that luck ... I generally consider myself prety savvy when it comes to tech/computing (Im the official tech support for my family & friends :P) but trying to get this thing running on only basic previous experience with html & php (& a liiiiiitle SQL) is making me feel like Ive never even seen a computer before!

I expect to make good use of the community forums, & who knows, hopefully I eventually will learn enough to help others starting where I am now.
