You can do it by using the elgg_get_entities_from_metadata() function in the read.php file. Set the count as TRUE for the metadata "address".

I'm a newbie and I don't really know how to use this function.
It seems that you are a team of professionnals. I would like to know how much you would charge for creating a small plugin to indicate on the page of each object like blog, page or photo how many persons have bookmarked it.
If the price is reasonable, I could pay for it and we could put this plugin at the disposal of the elgg community.

That metadata search will OK alright to fetch the Bookmarks' counts , BUT will incur a database hit for every display of the bookmarks' properties on every page the fetch is done - and that will start to load Server far more than one may want to.. Not a very efficient way to fetch the simple counter - which ideally should be stored for each Bookmark ;)
