I have the same problem and cannot get a reponse from anyone in the forum
"More.." works almost OK in IE7 here; I not have IE9 ;)
" cannot getting a response " ? -- probably becoz most people not use IE9 ;-P
IE notorious for not following (CSS) W3C standards;
Kinda makes issue u r both having a 'browser issue; not 'elgg' problem.
To arrive at some resolution :-
you both should spend some serious time debugging on your browser
to see what aspects / features inside IE9 causes problems...

As a temporary solution is useful to me.
I will continue investigating to get embed list thumbnails and tinymce large images.I will look closer at those code changes I tested with before - to see what more can be done to make the embedding thingy smoother and more useful..
