I have solved the problem. For others who might have this same problem it happened when I tried to make my Elgg directory WebDav enabled. That not only screwed up the cgi files, but permissions. Once I took it off and had Dreamhost to reset the permissions back to me the link to the pics came back. Still not sure about how we can share development files. Using subversion on another site and then overwriting them on the actual working Elgg site - seems very clumsy :)
i'm thinking about this too (i just saw that v4.0 of the creative commons documents are available).
anyone got a creative commons widget or plugin of any type?
