It sounds like your data directory is incorrect.  Have you checked that it's writable and that you have updated the database correctly for it?

please check your .htaccess too.

First check junk emails, second check browsers used by all of them and after that check plugin compatibility (mainly email site access and loginbyemail only both are not compatible with each other). Sometime email recived after 7 or 8 minutes of registeration so recheck again in email.

Hi. I went for Cash's method of fixing this problem from the server end. However, that FAQ only says that I can change the registration settings but it doesn't tell me how. Is there anything I'm missing?

There are plugins that allow admins to validate accounts.

Removing the validation requirement entirely would be an open invitation to spammers.

@JJE, elgg needs users to be validated before they can login to the account. If you need to bypass validation, you can either use the site access plugin/admin utilities plugin(Forgot the exact name) or you can manually add users in the admin panel.

but like as Kevin said, it will be an openinvitation to spammers, beware!
