• Create a new plugin to override the elgg navigation (see wiki for how to do that)
• You need to modify the topbar and navigation views.

Ben, you can try bookmarks plugin. You can archieve what you need with a few simple modifications to this plugin.

Hi Mike, thanks for that, I had completely glossed over the bookmarks plugin. Looks like it could be what I'm after. Do you have any ideas how I could bypass the 'Visit Resource' screen?

Actually, all I would need to do is hide the 'link' text, and get the 'Visit Resource' link out of the brackets. Just can't find how to do that though, any ideas?

This issue is that there is no real friends plugin. The friends system is hardcoded in Elgg core. The "friends plugin" simply provides an optional widget.
