is your elgg folder in var/www? Or are you using sub-folders and vhosts? usually this is a folder premissions problem but also can be the a problem with the group associated with the folder and owner of the folder...are u using plesk or something like that?
I am not too sure if it is installed in var/www, how would i find out? here is a screenshot of filezilla that shows where it is insalled. http://postimage.org/image/s3lz6smy9/ . it is installed within the chino folder here.
Could it be something to do with in advanced setting I have full path of data directory set to /home8/ssqacom/public_html/data/ . I have no idea where this directory is, has zacky installer configured this? if so it hasnt done correctly :( arghg
you need to have the data folder outside the elgg folder, in the pic u have provided, it is inside...
