@h_ching Are you using a custom theme? Maybe you should disable your custom theme plugin first. Besides, your .htaccess will be better than htaccess_dist ( if you have changed something, i.e. RewriteBase )
Before upgrade it's recommended to disable all custom plugins then enable them later on.
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your reply. No, I have never used any custom themes and always used the 'default' theme. I actually tried to use both the old .htaccess and the new one with the Rewrite base that's applicable to me. It didn't help. I compared the two files with 'diff' and notice no meaningful differences. Formatting is my only porblem and everything else seems to work- i can log in, click on links, etc.
I didn't disable plugins before I do the upgrade, but I guess it's a bit late to roll back the upgrade to redo it?
Hello,
I went a little futher and isolated the problem. It seems to be changes related to the 'data' directory during the upgrade process. i have update of everything so I redid the upgrade process a few times.
I found that if I performed the upgrade, and then put back the backup data directory, the forming reappears. If I keep the data directory from the upgrade, the formatting is gone.
Is it save to keep the old data directory?
I'm interested in this as well. Was just now noticing that when I bookmared an article and set it to 'private' it still showed up on the dashboard. Seems to me that when a user does anything and sets it to 'private' that it should not show up but it does.... would love to filter that out, which imho it should be anyway
@Dagorath
Have you found anything yet?
I have made a real ugly hack to make discussion show up in the filter on riverdashboard.
In /mod/riverdashboard/views/defaultriverdashboard/nav.php right below :
if (!empty($vars['config']->registered_entities)) {
Add this code:
// Ugly fix for missing discussions filter - kinkster
if (is_plugin_enabled('groups')){
$keyname = 'item:object:groupforumtopic';
$contents[$keyname] = "object,groupforumtopic";
}
// Ugly fix end
Hopefully there will be a better fix in Elgg version 1.7
Ok, give me a couple of days to figure out how to configure xrunner to work with elgg.
I've never actually tried to attempt to add an 'unknown entity' being elgg to the mix as the program comes prepopulated with almost every major cms/blog/forum out there.
In case your interested the program I am thinking of here is from http://www.botmasternet.com/index.php
It's pretty much the best of the best.... I'm sure a few here are probably already familiar with xrunner LOL
@Shawn -- I need to move this domain to a different server. I didn't think we'd be using this server yet, but turns out we're going to need it for the Boston conference. By the weekend it should be good to go but I'll give you a nudge here to let you know. I'm really interested in seeing what we can figure out!
@Zakary I couldn't agree more with what you just said. I see 2 things being very important.
1. Selective input. Meaning I choose the sites I am connected to. Maybe someday having a directory of elgg sites to choose from would be cool.
2. Ability to 'opt out' or not start in the first place. In other words, don't ever make elgg cloud linking to everyone a requirement or you end up with the ning issue. I can't describe how many people I know who run sites on ning who were more than upset that their users were sent emails and auto imported into ning.com a few months back. -Obviously huge difference as ning is propriatary where elgg is open, which is why I'm here in the first place.
you said the N word shhhhhh! horrid nightmares.
Please dont forget the poor lonley user that wants to make a business out of their site. I don't want people friending others on another site, well unless I run it. I want them to register in mine so i can get more revenue. yes greedy dollar signs in my eyes, but don't worry I plan on paying regular homage to the elgg gods.
Now for educational sites it would be a god send of useful information links, heralding back to the very beginings of what Internet really meant.
So yes market your ElggNet in that way and you have the winner!

I am having the same problem.
Green popups appear only on refresh (along with corresponding action) or after navigating to a new page.
Safari 4.0.2 / OSX 10.5.8
Works fine for me in FF 3.5.2
Anyone else having this issue? How do we get Ben or Pete or Marcus or Dave to chime in?
Info repost:
Browser: Safari 4.0.2 (works in FF 3.5.2 for me)
OS: Mac OSX 10.5.8
Host: Lunarpages (I have confirmed they have PHP installed as CGI. Could this be the cause? I've now gotten the same results on Lunarpages and Siteground.)
1.6.1 seems to have solved it.
