Hello my friend, this is one of unsolved issue in elgg. You can edit certain files but it will create a conflict with profile manager. don t lose your time. this is really annoying and many people are waiting for this fix. hope the developers will implement a datapicker in elgg core!!!!!!!!!!!!!
