Hey there! Wanted to see where do I change the memory in Tidypics so when I upload I wont get the "Too many pixels" error? Thank ya, Mekaboo
    • The creation of the thumbnails when using the GD php extension as image library (as Elgg requires this extension it's also used by Tidypics by default) requires (a lot of) memory correlating with the image resolution (not directly relating with image filesize). To allow for uploading and processing images with larger resolutions you would have to increase the value of the memory_limit php variable in Elgg's .htaccess file (or in the server's php.ini if setting php variable values in .htaccess files don't work on your server or you don't use Apache). By default memory_limit is set to 64M by Elgg. If you have enough RAM on your server, you can increase the value.

A better approach would be to use one of the alternative image libraries supported by Elgg. If you have either the Imagick php extension or the ImageMagick tools installed on your server, you can select one of these other image libraries to be used by Tidypics in the Tidypics plugin settings. Both have much lower memory requirements, so you would be able to upload images with higher resolutions even if you can't increase memory_limit enough. And both should also produce thumbnails with a better image quality (I always use the ImageMagick tools as they give the best results in my opinion). If neither Imagick php extension nor the ImageMagick tools are installed on your server and you don't know how to install them, I would suggest to ask the support of your webhoster.

Hey there!! Ive taken advice and activate/deactivate Tidypics as well as tried to do the IMGUR but nothing works. All of my other plugins work beautifully..no problems. I want to see if there are any alternatives to Tidypics or a simple way to...
    • I think that you should fix your issue with RequireJS as you've mentioned in your reply.

Anyway, you can use Embed (the bundled plugin in Elgg).

I will not advise you other plugins because as I assume they will not work until you fix the RequireJS error.

    • Thank you so much @RvR! Being that Ive never disabled is before how do I go about doing that? Being looking around but don't understand.

    • Got it to work! I copied code from a theme that I liked but deactivated due to it messing with my SSL and placed it within an index.php file in the Aalborg theme. the issue stemmed from me still having the js from the old theme and not deleting it which I just did. I also activated CDN within my webhost. I activated the Tidypics plugin then flushed cache. Now things are working FANTASTIC!!!

Hey! I realized my site cant really be accessed via mobile phone so how so I go about make my site mobile friendly? Thank ya Mekaboo
    • Just curious, are responsive themes available for Elgg 3x - including paid themes ?
( Elgg 2x seem to be EOL as well as php5x but I am not sure when )

    • Thank you for the recommendation @Rohit I appreciate it!!

@iionly I am using the Aalborg theme and changed code to what I wanted but I added a login page plugin that when you look from mobile it comes out very small and not good to use. I actually deactivated due to now see how the aalborg theme looks via mobile. I thought I needed the login plugin but I dont.,,

@dranii I dont know, that is interesting though.

    • Elgg 3 has not even be released and it will be at least a couple month until it is. I doubt that there are already themes for Elgg 3 available (at least published themes as some people might already experiment with Elgg 3 a bit to be prepared). Even with Elgg 3 released it might take a while until themes arrive. Elgg 3 is fully responsive and mobile friendly by default. While Elgg 2 themes won't work on Elgg 3 without getting updated it shouldn't be too hard to upgrade an existing theme (or the other way round: modify the Elgg 3 UI files accordingly to get the same look and feel as before on Elgg 2). Likewise, it's not too hard to start with the default Elgg 3 UI and create a theme plugin that changes the look and feel - it should be even easier as with Elgg 2. Of course, a bit of coding knowledge would be necessary but it's surely manageable.

Even with Elgg 3 released it won't be the immediate EOL of Elgg 2. With Elgg 3 released Elgg 2 will become the new LTS release replacing Elgg 1.12 in this role. Elgg 2 should receive bugfixes (at least security fixes) until Elgg 4 would get released when Elgg 3 would replace Elgg 2 as LTS release. Elgg 2.3 also works with PHP 7 so you can upgrade from PHP 5 to 7 and still use Elgg 2.3 until you are ready to upgrade to Elgg 3.

    • @Mekaboo Disable all scripts are loaded from CloudFlare CDN (and don't use these until you'll understand what you do).

Now run 'Flush the caches' and check your browser console.

      Try TidyPics again.

    • Thanx a bunches Sir!!!

    • Which version of Elgg are you using? With the current version of Elgg (or let's say with all the Elgg version of the last few years at least) you don't need any additional plugin to ban users. The ban option is available in Elgg by default already. You can ban a user by the "Ban user" menu entry in the hover menu (you get it when clicking on a user profile icon as admin) or you have the ban option within the Admin options on a user's profile page. As an admin you can also delete any offending content created by another user (which you possibly want to do in addition to banning the user as the user's content remains on the site and is still visible and accessible by other users when the user is banned). Alternatively, you can also delete a user account (delete option is also available in the hover menu and on the profile page of a user if you are logged in as admin). Deleting a user account will also remove ALL content this user has ever created (including comments, messages, likes etc.).
