I don't think that's possible. An email address is necessary for every account regardless if registered by admin or normal user. Without an email address the user wouldn't be able to change the password or reset the password in case he forgot the old password. Also, there would be issues if a user wants to enable email notifications but hasn't provided an email address.

The only difference with regard to providing the email address when creating an account is that an admin can add a new user in the admin section without the necessity of email validation (i.e. the account gets activated immediatelly) whereas the normal user registering an account (with the bundled uservalidationbyemail plugin enabled) would have to validate the email address first before the account gets activated.

Better would be if you just looked up your php error log to see what's wrong.
A blank page usually means a fatal error somewhere. Your logs would tell you exactly what's causing this and gives us a much better look on how to fix it.

Hello I deactivated hypeinteration and activated hypelist and it worked...then I activated hype interaction and deactivated the likes plugin,then with hypelist and hype interaction activated and likes plugin deactivated... The activity page started working... Please any advice...thanks.

I think Elgg does not support fancybox anymore since Elgg 1.9. It supports colorbox instead since then. If any plugin still relies on fancybox, it would have to provide the fancybox libs on its own. Though it's quite likely that a plugin won't do that and therefore you won't be able to use this plugin on Elgg 1.9 or newer (and of course also not on Elgg 2.2).

Most likely your problem is caused from using a plugin that has not been updated since quite a while and is not working correctly on your current Elgg version anymore (most likely not on any Elgg 2 version). Are you using any plugins that haven't been released to be compatible with Elgg 2? If this is the case I would suggest you test if you still have the problem with the lightboxes in the plugin list with these plugins turned off. This is not a fix but you would know at least what plugin or plugins are responsible for the problem.

thanks ura soul for your support..i was able to download the packaged version of hypeScraper and it activated...but it makes my river page load blank b'cos there are bookmarks...do you know how i could fix that or is there an alternative plugin to hypeScraper...thanks.
