@ rjcalifornia & @DhrupDeScoop,
Hello there and Good day/eve!
I contacted my web-hosting service provider, and upon their checking into the details in the administration area of my website (area of the elgg application), they were unable to locate any settingt that would allow them to configure my application to use SMTP for sending emails to your users, leading them to believe that the issue of registration--per all discussions aforementioned--is related to what they provided me in their original reply to my inquiry into this problem--- the php mail() function.
My web-hosting service provider suggested that in order to resolve this issue I would have the following options:
1) Contact the application developers and request from them to release a patch for you in which they will include the option for SMTP mailing.
2) Search for a plugin which will provide you with such an option. Note that if you find some plugin we will install it for you.
Please, if you know of a plugin or patch that I can use/install so I may apply the option for SMTP mailing, I would greatly appreciate this information.
And thank you thus far for your technical support and feedback regarding this issue!
Sincerely,
Candid

I don't know if this might help at all? http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/384769/developer/costelloc/phpmailer

Which third party plugins are you using?
I doubt it is due to a third party plugin, it sounds more like a server issue.

It's actually not all that difficult, and it's been answered many many times.

Logo Manager is capable of doing this without manipulating code by yourself: http://community.elgg.org/plugins/837377/1.8-12.01.25/glee-logo-manager-for-18
Note: Logo Manager was indeed very promising but seems to have been abondened by its developer.
