Release Notes

1.1.2 (2013-04-05):

  • fixed: files lost their folder if the access of the folder was updated (thanks to Tauvic Ritter for reporting)
  • fixed: uploading a zip could create an empty folder
  • changed: layout of the upload page, now with tabs for the different option (single file, multi file, zip file)
  • removed: old css file
  • removed: tags from multi upload form
  • Thank you for the plugin. Unfortunately, I can't upload anything to my server when the plugin is activated. This plugin works fine in my localhost and I can upload a file normally if this plugin is deactivated. Could you please help me to figure it out what's going on?

  • Ok. Now I know that it's because of my hack to elgg session for SAML login.

  • I just wanted to come back again after experiencing this plugin how it should work and state that this is an awesome plugin and you did a great job with it.  You can really tell a lot of thought went into it.  For example I was greatly impressed when it seemed to automatically detect the php file size upload limit and presented a warning message that those files would be not be uploaded while gracefully continuing with the other files.   The drag and drop functionality is a very nice touch.  Highly recommended. :)

  • i'm just getting to use this in more detail.
one enhancement idea is to add a method of creating folders for files that share the same tag or tags.. so the user/admin chooses or types one or more tags and a new folder is populated with all the items that match the tag(s).

  • I like this plugin a lot but I wish there was an option for larger icons and to show a short blurb of the file desciption as is the the case when this plugin is not activated. Currently, the icons are too small for my users to see well and the titles alone do not provide enough information for them.

  • Hi Jerome,

I found a mistake, I can upload an mp3 file despite the mp3 extension does not appear in the allowed extensions list.

    Thank you

  • Problems with plugin loginrequired (force not loggin try upload files). Check it please.

  • How do you access the folder creation page?

There doesn't seem to be a direct link to the create folder page after selecting the file menu item? The only link to the folder creation page seems to be through the file widget in user profile page or create new group folder through the groups file.

Am I missing something here please help?

  • I can also see the add new folder by going directley to the url www.mysite.com/file/owner/username

But no menu item to the above link on files page?

In the sidebar of your files or group files (where you see the folder structure), there is a button to create a new folder.

  • When I upload a file, the file icon does not correspond to its extension! The major problem is with images which don't appear. Can someone solve that problem?

  • Excellent plugin, highly recommended.

One suggestion: Firefox on Windows 7 refuses to select multiple files in the multi-file upload interface. To fix that, add the "multiple" argument to the elgg_view(input/file) call in multi.php form.

  • good plugin......but can't upload multiple files.please fix

I develop this plugin on Win7 Firefox and have no problem selecting multiple files. Did you wait long enough on the page for the flash plugin to load?? It replaces the default file input on that page.

I will need a little bit more information in order to help you. If you have a bug, please report them on GitHub if you can https://github.com/ColdTrick/file_tools/issues

  • If I have file_tools activated, uploaded files (e.g. gifs) no longer come with previews. Anyone know, what might be going wrong? (I'm using Elgg 1.8.16.)

  • i have the same problem that Andreas!! elgg 1.8.16

  • @Andreas, @Cosmona and all users

I think for now, if you are using elgg 1.8.16, don't use the File Tools Plugin until the developer comes up with a solution to this bug.

Thanks for reporting the issue (https://github.com/ColdTrick/file_tools/issues/21).

However I'm unable to reproduce the problem, I've tried individual upload, multi upload and zip upload. With jpg, png and gif.

    I always get a thumbnail.

I think for now, if you are using elgg 1.8.16, don't use the File Tools Plugin until the developer comes up with a solution to this bug.

If you're able to reproduce the problem please help by reporting the steps in the GitHub issue.

  • I'll make a new installation of elgg and try this out.

  • Hello everybody !

I noticed that all forms (upload, mulit and zip) are all displayed in the first tab when I load the 'file/add/' page.

How can I do to get displayed only the first form (upload.php)  ?

What can be the problem ?

    Regards,

    Clem

Make sure you flushed all the caches and refresh the page (CTRL+F5) it should only show one and you can switch by using the tabs.

  • @Jerome,

    Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, I think there a deepr problem, probably linked to Jquery in loading.

I noticed that I had some other troubles with others plugins like inactive popup on Likes, troubles on tabs displaying for bookmarks tools is well for example, etc ...

    Have you any idea ?

    Regards,

    Clem

  • Great plugin, but it has a small bug:

In closed (not open) groups all folders (even if they and their content are marked as "public") can't be accessed by non-logged in users it seems. A direct link to the public file works, but if I press on "group files" or directly link to a subdirectory the Elgg message "You must be logged in to view that page" pops up.

  • My understanding is that not being able to access public content in closed groups is an issue with Elgg logic: content access settings are overridden by group access settings. I think that this constraint is removed in 1.9.x (I hope so!) but there are others who would know better.

  • hmm, it works with public files in closed groups though (if you link to them).
