Release Notes

First release for Elgg 1.8.

It's still a bit in beta, so please test carefully before enabling this plugin on you production server.

If you find any problems, please let us know

  • Many descriptive options such as file title, description, and category are missing when uploading to a sub-folder.

  • Another suggestion is to add the option back to add a title for the file during upload. Currently, the file is uploaded with a title of its file name. The file must then be edited to give it a different name.

  • hi Jerome, great plugin!... but..  it all seemed to work all fine, but we had to deactivate it because the tool would allow you to only upload .zip files and the regular upload button did not work anymore. We are on 1.8.6. I don't know if you know this problem, if not, it could be something related to our own installation as well. Thanks for all your great work, you have a great list of plugins.

  • Any chance of increasing the size limit for files, 50mb is not enough

  • Hi. I´m using 1.8.6  the tool would allow you to only upload .zip files and the regular upload button did not work. And in Groups does not allow normal upload or zip.

    I like this plugin. Help me please.

  • Thanks Jerome, this plugin works so nicely in our recently upgraded site! +1!

    Do anyone know of any options to keep different versions of a file? As far as I know, if you upload a file in the place of another one, the original is lost. This is a bit tricky for groups collaborating on the same document...

  • A File-PlugIn Versioning System was coded hmm..;) about 18 months back by one of my then 15 yrs old;O youngster elgg- friends.. I had helped him along only some *little bit, tho i never did grab finished code from him. And these days he codes some pretty funky Elgg PlugIns. So, I knows it can be done/ coded by other ('grown-up') elggsters' too ;-P That youngsters name ? http://community.elgg.org/profile/markharding93 ;-)

  • I really like this plugin, but when hitting the "Add file" button I got a "this page does not exist" error, but figured out it was because I didn't install Elgg in my domain's root directory and it added the subdirectory a few times to the URL.

    I suggest you change mod/file_tools/views/default/file_tools/js/site.php:

    Change line 181 from

    var new_add_link = elgg.get_site_url() + path.substring(1) + "?folder_guid=" + folder_guid;

    to

    var new_add_link = elgg.get_site_url() + "file/add/" + elgg.get_page_owner_guid() + "?folder_guid=" + folder_guid;

    because path includes the subdirectory and elgg.get_site_url() also does.

    Lines 178 and 180 can actually be deleted then. Instead I suggest adding two lines to add the parent folder also to the ZIP upload button:

    var new_zip_link = elgg.get_site_url() + "file/zip/" + elgg.get_page_owner_guid() + "?folder_guid=" + folder_guid;
    $('ul.elgg-menu-title li.elgg-menu-item-zip-upload a').attr("href", new_zip_link);

    So basically replace lines 178 to 183 of views/default/file_tools/js/site.php by this:

    var new_add_link = elgg.get_site_url() + "file/add/" + elgg.get_page_owner_guid() + "?folder_guid=" + folder_guid;
    $('ul.elgg-menu-title li.elgg-menu-item-add a').attr("href", new_add_link);

    var new_zip_link = elgg.get_site_url() + "file/zip/" + elgg.get_page_owner_guid() + "?folder_guid=" + folder_guid;
    $('ul.elgg-menu-title li.elgg-menu-item-zip-upload a').attr("href", new_zip_link);
