I followed the directions but yet it did not work, I removed the mods and started over.. still no luck? Any Ideas?, Thank You

Yes I did.. Custom Index 1.8 that came with elgg..

1. Go to settings of this plugin 
2. Save settings according to your requirements 
3. flush your site cache from admin dashboard!

I tried it, still no luck... could it be the plugin needs to be somewhere special, top or bottom, or could another plugin be disrupting it?

run upgrade.php or clear your browser's cache

tried both... I guess it wont run the way I set things up I guess...
