MS Office 2010 Mime Types Patch v1.01

Release Notes

In the previous version of this patch, I automatically converted all Office 2010 files (docx, pptx, xlsx) to mime types (application/msword, application/powerpoint, application/excel). This allowed all the file icons to properly render, and the files were opening up fine. However, when using the Google Docs Viewer to do preview, it would complain that it wasn't correct type of file.

To fix this, the correct mapping is:

  • 'docx' => 'application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document'
  • 'doc' => 'application/msword'
  • 'pptx' => 'application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.presentation'
  • 'ppt' => 'application/vnd.ms-powerpoint'
  • 'xlsx' => 'application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet'
  • 'xls' => 'application/vnd.ms-excel'

In addition, I added support for the Apple iWork Pages format.

  • 'pages' => 'application/x-iwork-pages-sffpages'

In order to support the new MSOffice 2010 mime types, the icon thumnails had to be overriden using the plugin hook handler 'file:icon:url','override'.
This plugin was meant to work in tandem with the GDocs File Previewer plugin.
