This plugin is necessary and important but it is difficult to implement it. I could already come with the functions in the drop down menu. Or it could give the administrator a great chance of setting up for each character.
An application has thousands of callable functions and methods, so it's just not realistic. Roles is a framework for developers to create role-based infrastructures. You can use this however to simplify some of the tasks https://github.com/hypeJunction/Elgg-roles_ui
thank you
problem in role of github
Missing dependencies.
Hello, I use this plugin + Role Ui plugin in Elgg 2.1 I have the configured 4 roles working properly. Great combination and very useful.
I have the following question. Is it possible to save a role to a new user and modify it if it already exists, without being logged in on elgg and externally with another application?
Thanks for these plugins, good job
P.D: I do not know if this is the correct site for the query, sorry if it is not the site I am new to the Elgg environment.
You could create a new web services method to update role configuration from an external service, or to assign a role to the user.
Thanks Ismayil for the response.
Is it necessary to use the web services if the modification or registration of the role is in an Elgg plugin already installed and that I want it to perform that function?
Specifically it is for a plugin of an SSO system that does not register or update the role of the user.
Thanks
When will this plugin available for elgg 3 ?
Thanks
@Prase: You can find a compatible version of this plugin with Elgg 3 at https://github.com/nlybe/Roles.
Also at https://github.com/nlybe/Elgg-roles_ui is available the Roles UI plugin, compatible with Elgg 3 as well.
Thanks @nikos
Roles has completely vanished from my Admin Plug in list, yet it is on the server in the Mod folder. This is also happening with my "Tracker" plugin. The first time noticed this was after server lockup/Crash and then did Server Restore. Now Roles UI can not see Roles in plugin list even though it is Obviously active. Does anyone have clue of what may be happening with my Roles plugin?
Check read/write permissions on 'roles' folder in /mod
How would we make a "SuperModerator" with ability for Ban/Unban plus other basic Mod abilities with Roles?
Is that Roles Ui? (attempted using Rules UI for this)
This was attempted tonight with SuperMod not actually functioning. '
No idea what was done wrong in the process... hmm doing it on 1.12.17 instead of 2.3...
That could be big part of the problem...

Is there another way?
Use Roles UI (and all other plugins) that are compatible with your Elgg version; don't try to invent a wheel.
And upgrade your Elgg at least to version 2.3; I stop helping users with outdated Elgg versions < 2.3.
