This is a proof of concept to allow easy embedding until ECML is production ready.

This plugin scans for links whose title attribute begins with "oembed" (and not in comment blocks). If the link's href attribute is recognized as an Oembed provider (e.g. YouTube), the browser replaces the link with embed markup requested directly from the provider.

This is certainly slower for users than a server-side solution, but has the advantage of working today!

Instructions:

  1. Make a link to a video, flickr photo, or whatever.
  2. Make sure the title attribute starts with "oembed".

On page display your link will be replaced by the media object (but not in comments).
