It created a doble url for my users. ex: http://mydomain.com//http://mydomain.com/user Still got no Idea why
@ Steve Clay - can you give some more details on how you disabled that aspect of the facebook connect
Is there somewhere we can get details of what info gets passed from elgg site to facebook? The problem is that some info on my site should not end up on facebook, I need to be able to assure users that it is only a method to log in, and that whatever they do on the Elgg site, wont end up also being posted on their facebook status page. As such I really need to also disable that feature mentioned by Prieto when associating the elgg account with fbook
oh and how do I reverse the process, i.e. if I no longer wish to login to my Elgg account with facebook, I want to break the association, how do I do that?
I dont like that it changes my Elgg profile avatar to my Facebook profile picture eitherm anyway to stop that?
fixed most of the above, cool plugin thanks
Works well, recommended.
Ah, wow... I have now downloaded 4 facebook connect plugins, and finally one that works! This is the only fb plugin that works when have activated the "private network" option/walled garden.
Thanx so much. If I earn a bundle of money on my project, you will a nice donation. :)
Upon trying to log in with facebook, I get this error:
Any idea what is throwing this or how to fix it?
Does this work with Elgg 1.8.3? Because I can't see the button! (I already input the secret key and App ID)
@mdkberry the diff is here to remove wall-posting from this plugin. I wish the author had this in a repo.
Im getting Deprecation errors, how can i update this to work with 1.8.3?
Worked out a few other errors where the plugin broke theme css rules on my site. This included The Wire and Files where it broke my colors and pictures that built the layout.
Ive looked at what exactly isn't showing and ive decided it not detrimental to the over-all stability of my site, although it did break my Plugins so that the default ALL view is no longer usable but instead loads with a exhausted memory error.
Easy to setup and works perfectly! Thanks!
help help help! i need somthing that im hoping is pretty simple, i need this plugin to run like its older version where when u join using facebook it gives u a random facebook username (example www.mysite.com/profile/facebook_1746784344) this is what it use to do, this newer version creates a username based on the facebook displayname and my site likes to be descret on using peoples real names, so (www.mysite.com/profile/myname) wont due, anyway to revert it back to creating usernames based off the facebook_uid????

I am having problems to make the plugin work, when i insert the facebook credentials and i hit the facebook authentication button, it redirect my session onto the facebook site where i hit the login button again and then it hangs forever.
Do i need to have SSL enabled on my webserver in order for the plugin to authenticate a user?
The best facebook login. Good job.
From an admin standpoint how would I prevent the user from logging back in via Facebook Connect after deleting the user?
Very good point Angelo. I had to disable this plugin for a number of reasons. The most important was that deleting spammer accounts did not do anything because they can still log straight in with Facebook and there is nothing you can do about it.
I love the idea of using Facebook to log in but most users are accepting cookies anyway so the negatives outweighed the positives.
I seem to have a problem with the plugin. I'm sure it's just me but I can't for the life of me see where I'm going wrong.
Problem is I have my api, secret codes and all. They're input correctly. When I test it, I get redirected back to my site login screen.
What or where am I going wrong?
Also, it says that "You must be logged in to view that page."
Thanks in advance!
@DonJuanJohn: have you Elgg's walledgarden option enabled? Then the facebook authentification fails. You would need to add the views and/or actions of the plugin necessary for the authentification process to the pages defined as public for walledgarden. There's a plugin hook available to do that, but you would need to figure out what files are necessary to be added for the authentification to work.
Something bad happen!
