Found this from php.ini
// For uninstalling ME , first remove/comment all FreiChatX related code i.e below code
// Then remove FreiChatX tables frei_session & frei_chat if necessary
// The best/recommended way is using the module for installation
Now then again, what does ME mean?
What is 'the module' and where can I find it?
I guess all this would be easier if I could get access to the admin panel. Everything sounds extremely confusing. A help file would be very helpful.
PS. I'm usinge version 7.2
@Darthvader : to uninstall,
thank you
Less busy now? Would be great if this plugin could make use of Freichat 9.2 or later. Thanks.
@Krischan : wait for elgg 1.9
ok installed the 7.6 version for now. It seems to be conflicting with the widget managers index image slider widget though.
wenn the chatroom overlay is enabled the pictures don't show up and when I save the widgets settings I get a security violation like this:
any idea what the issue there is? Thanks.
hi. i just installed chat - elgg 8.14 on the contempo theme 1.8. In the settings is says "type /rehash in chat" to save settings. so far i am not able to find anything showing up on the site (profile - dashboard, nor anywhere else) to access the chat option, so i am confused where to type "rehash"?? should it be in a chat box or somewhere in the mod file? where should the chat option be accessed by the user? thanks for you help.
ps.... the screen steps from step 6 and beyond (as shown at http://www.webgalli.com/blog/facebook-like-chat-for-elgg/) did not pop up when i clicked on "settings" (step 5)... what I got was a plain white screen that says:
"NOTE: After changing the settings you have to type /rehash in the chat so that the new configuration is loaded.
Container Type : file ........
Access: lazy .......
Behaviour: Embedded.........

I've written up a tutorial on how to get the latest Freichat (v9.3) to work with Elgg 1.8
http://demyx.com/blog/view/10593/how-to-install-freichat-with-elgg-1-8
My problem is i need it too work with mobile devices too and i'm also using a responsive theme so if no way to then who to disable the chat in mobile view?
@LT if you checked out my guide and look at step 2, you should change it to this http://pastebin.com/Bib73gf1
Ur guide is to upgrade to v9.3 doesn't state about mobile use? But this coding where am i to put it which file?
@LT the free version doesn't let you use the mobile version of it, my fix is to hide the chat for mobile users. follow my guide http://demyx.com/blog/view/10593/how-to-install-freichat-with-elgg-1-8
ya read the guide but doesn't show how to eliminate the mobile view? No i'm running Elgg in a subfolder root/elgg/ so would i install the freichat in root/freichat or root/elgg/freichat and does that mean this plugin is no longer activated and should be deactivated then???
i don't use this plugin, i installed freichat manually. i'm using the current version of freichat from http://codologic.com/page/
follow my guide and then look at http://pastebin.com/Bib73gf1 which contains a few lines of code to detect mobile users
oh ok so basically this will just make a open chat system! I have my elgg private to logged in users so it wouldn't work in my case then! Needing it to work like the plugin with users info intergrated and only for logged in users! No if you or Team Webgalli can intergrate the new feature i would love this plugin but luv it more if it was compatible with mobile as i would pay for the mobile version!
now is it possible to use that mobile disable code with this plugin and if so how would i go into installing it?
does this plugin hog resources?
@UK : please try it and let us know.
lol you should know Team Webgalli ^_^ this has not been updated for 302 days is there a newer version on gitty hubs : D
@UK i used this plugin and it uses around 1-2% of cpu each time a page is refreshed. the problem is that elgg isn't fully ajaxed so this plugin plus elgg requires a lot of HTTP request and thus requires more cpu usage per page view. doesn't matter what chat plugin you use, it will still use a lot of cpu %
oh i see thanks for the heads up i am using barc chat now as it is hosted on there server is this still the same and will take up resources? @Cim
barc chat should be no problem on shared hosting.
cim, i was looking for a good chat plugin, and saw your guide. i will soon try it and will let you know the outcome
v nice thanks Cim : ) is there anything better than barc chat?
