I got it installed and working correctly, however I don't see any links/menu options for the chatrooms.

Are there chatrooms as per frei-chat admin settings?

I have "show guests or registered users" set to buddies and have tried the other settings but nobody is showing as online.  Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

for some reason the chat works fine, but without any CSS. the components are always at the botton of the page and not in a float bar at botton of the window. The windowstake all width, etc.

I'm using elgg 1.8.3

Spike I had the same problem.  Check the arg.php file and make sure $installed=true; it's located right under $PATH.

Before activating the plugin, first open the chat folder, there is Readme first.txt file. Open this file and a link inside it. It'll show you the proper installation procedure.

I have a problem with the chat... On home page the chatroom appear when site open then disappear... I didn't want the chatroom and chat box on home page for unlogin user. Any idea how to fix that.... Here is my site link...

I've installed Elgg and this Chat mod on my localhost using XAMPP with no prob. When I installed it on the actual websever ,  got this error: 

Missing argument 2 for info(), called in /home/ofwsocia/public_html/mod/chat/vendors/freichat/installation/install.php on line 307 and defined in /home/ofwsocia/public_html/mod/chat/vendors/freichat/installation/drivers/Elgg.php on line 3

Works Fine in Elgg 1.8.3 :)

It's a Good idea put a .htaccess in /mod/chat/vendors/freichat/  avoid to prevent access to config.dat because it has smtp user and password if you had configure it.

it can do too with <filesMatch> directive for expluding other files.

How to remove the "Powered By EvNix" from chatbox.... Any suggestion plz. Thanks in advance

this chat works great but it is in conflict with Profile Manager 1.7? Profile Manager fail to display additional profile fields. When I turn off this plugin Profile Manager start to work normaly.

Does anyone has same problems? Any solutions?

To remove the 'Powered by EvNix' eyesore on the chat, go to mod/chat/vendors/freichat/lang/english.php replace:

Line 13: $frei_trans['pwdby'] = 'Powered by';

with

$frei_trans['pwdby'] = '<noscript>';

@EvNix It saddens me to think that people put credits on their work just for coporate/financial gain. I mean, take a leaf out of Mark Zuckerberg's book, he doesn't charge anyone for using Facebook but he gains revenue by advertising, so either get a job or remove that horrid Powered By eye sore off your script. Do people charge you for teaching you how to do PHP? No!

@mrunlimited2011: Facebook is such an inappropriate example for comparison. How do you think Facebook makes all these Billions of money? By ads. How do you avoid these? Of course, you can use an adblocker but could you change the sourcecode of Facebook to not show you the ads in the first place? Also they make money by selling all your data - regardless of private or not - to whoever pays them. Can you avoid that? No chance.

For the freichat plugin Team Webgalli even described in the install instructions how to remove the link in case you don't want it. It's open source by Heavens sake! EvNix is offering the chat package FOR FREE! If they want to show the users of their software who developed it, what's the matter?

@mrunilimited: if you dont like the plugin, please dont use it. It was the great  mind of evnix, to release such a wonderful plugin as opensource. All they are asking back is a backlink. If you dont want to show that, hire a php developer or create your own plugin with no back link and release it back to the community. There are many commercial chat plugins available for plugin. They all are adding their own branding even if you purchase their licence. 

This is the problem with people. They wont value things when they get it for free or low costs. Put a high price for anything and brand it. They will buy it and will remain silent. The attitude of people like you, are preventing the developers from releasing free plugins. Nobody is compelling you to use it. If you dont need it, dont download and use it. If you are using it say thanks to the providers.
