In Canada effective July 1st users must give express consent when registering to be on a mailing list. The description says you can change the age text so I assume you could change the text to whatever you need? If there a limit to the amount of text? I guess I could test it out by adding the text and seeing if it works.
@Dan Westlake There's no limit regarding the length of the text (well, within reasonable limits anyway). Most likely the problem with a longer text is rather that it might not look very good on the registration page if there's a lengthy text. A possible alternative to displaying the whole text a user has to agree to is to include for example a link to the site's term's page (and/or privacy page - whatever seems better to you) in the text. Then you could explain in detail all the terms on these pages. You can add a link within the text by using the href html tag that will get replaced by the link on the output:
"I swear to high heaven" cracks me up lol
