Do you plan to offer a 1.8 version? Thanks!
he does
Thanks Dhrup!
@Frank: I use this plugin with 1.8 version. For me it looks okay. I do not see any issue till now.
I'm having problems getting the country filter to work, I have entered 'CN' but still getting chinese spammers registering. I have setup everything as in the requirements. I'm running ELGG v1.7.6, v1.2 of the Tracker plugin and have both API keys. Any suggestions?
cj: Do you have a Fassim API Key?
@Ray yes I do. I'm getting the email notifications OK, e.g. "Reason: Stopforumspam e-mail blacklist." they are all related to Stopforumspam though.
@CJ: Fassim is another service. If you read the docs, you will set that we have two antispam providers. stop forum spam and fassim. stop forum spam validates emails and ips. fassim validates both, but checks againts anonimous proxies and allow country block. But you need a fassim API key.
@Ray In my post from yesterday, I said that I DO have a fassim key.
@CJ: Fassim is in beta stage. I talked with fassim cretors yesterday and, like others beta services, fassim needs some polishment and needs to take care with server overloads. I tested country blocks and worked well, but maybe the fassim ip country list is outdated. I suggest to you a country block using htaccess.
In this link you choose the country and the file format: http://www.countryipblocks.net/
Just choose htacess and paste the content in your htaccess file. Works here.
@Ray OK thanks for that
I am using 1.7.2b. What would be the procedure to upgrade?
Regards,
Rafael
@Rafael: Just overwrite the old version with the new one and, for safety, run <yoursite>/upgrade.php to reset the views.
@Ray, is in necessary to locate this plugin under the Tracker plugin? As my plugins are in alphabetical order and i can not reorder them.
@Captnbob: Yes. Is in my instructions. And sort the plugins in alphabetical order is not a good practice.
@Ray, sorting them in alphabetical order is not by my choosing. I have tried many times and can not reorder them.
@captn: Look for "plugin manager". Maybe it can help.
And try to do a upgrade.php to reset the views.
@Ray, I have "plugin manager" installed and enabled. Does not change anything. I have tried many fixes for this problem and posted here for a solution. No one seems to be able to help.
@captnbob: regarding the problem with the alphabetical list of plugins. Have you ever tried the solution to disable all plugins with creating the file named "disabled" in the mod folder? I think there must be some misbehaving / incompatible plugin (or your theme) that causes the problem. If all plugins are disabled, can you change the order? You could also disable simple cache / filepath cache, if you've not tried that before. If it's not some Elgg core file that is causing the problem, it must be caused by a plugin and somehow it must be possible to "reset" the order of the plugins by turning off the part of your site that interferes.
@iionly: I feel this is not the place to discuss this problem.
I have started a new thread to find a solution to my problem. Thanks

@Ray J Ok, hi! So, I just want to inform something:
For the last couple of months we weren't getting any spam. However we just discovered that validation emails were missing the validation link. After fixing the problem we got 100 spammers in two days. I'm using your antispammer plugin =(
@rjcalifornia: Is the problem of validation link specific to this plugin? I wish its not for all users.
@RJC:
" After fixing the problem we got 100 spammers in two days... "
I think your problems may lie in there...
Once the validation link goes out - means that SLF has finished it's job.
If the spammer's IP was not trapped by then - some other issues...
@Purus No. I made a mistake lol
@Dhrup huh?
The unvalidated users was (is) clean.
