We have had complaints from our users and have lost users as a result of the activity river showing everything they do, including joining groups, friending people, editing their profiles and so on. This is information that they have not explicitly intended to reveal so it breaks the principle of controllable privacy and access control that makes Elgg so great.

This is an incredibly simple plugin, a single 1-line added to the river wrapper that means anything using the river (river dashboard, widgets, group activity widget etc) will only display objects - e.g. blog posts, comments, discussion posts, bookmarks, page edits, etc - and only those that the viewer has a right to view.

If you want people to see when others have been joining groups, making friends, editing their profiles and so on then this is not the plugin for you. For the rest of us, it might be helpful.
