What you can do to help:

Provides widgets for dashboard, profile and Group Custom Layout, to list posts with specified tags. Basically a saved-search widget.

Last updated

This plugin provides widgets for Dashboard, Profile and Tunist's version of Group Custom Layout. The widgets list things that have been tagged with one or more tags that you want to track. It's essentially a kind of saved tag-based search, displayed in a widget.

To use it, just drag it onto your dashboard, profile or group custom layout then, when editing the widget settings, provide a comma-delimited list of tags to search and the number of items you want the widget to display.

I created it to use with students who keep personal blogs, bookmarks, etc (with specific tags) that I want to show in a course group, but it could be handy for tracking specified tag use for many other purposes: as long as people tend to use consistent tags in their posts across a site you could track any posts relating to those tags (or any combination of tags) that interest you, whether personally or in a group.

It is just a quick and dirty update plus a minor augmentation of Twister's old Tag Activity plugin (http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/project/384561/developer/Twister/tag-activity) which has not been updated for a couple of years and which used a number of deprecated and non-working functions etc. It has been made to work with Elgg 1.7.x (tested on 1.7.7 and 1.7.8) and has the following new functionality:

It should work fine in profiles and dashboards. If group custom layout is installed it will try to add the widget to that, otherwise that part of the code will be ignored. Beware that there are several versions of the group custom layout available - I can't promise it will work with any but the version mentioned above and it's not impossible it could cause problems if the wrong version is installed (should be OK with most versions leading up to that but not all branches).

It has not been tested in anger on a fully populated system yet so treat with caution, but appears to work fine on two different servers running 1.7.7 and 1.7.8. All bug reports and suggestions welcomed.
