I took a bit of time to make this mod to help someone learn how to add widgets to a page, such as with the custom_index mod.
This is a standalone mod and was made and tested on elgg 1.7.4.
All this does is add a menu link called 'My Widget Board' that links to a new page that is solely used for allowing users to add widgets to. The page is blank besides for the widgets and 'Edit Page' button to add more widgets. If you are curious how to do this, take a look at the source code - it is quite simple.
If you want to use this for a live site, you can easily change the name that displays to end users from 'My Widget Board' to whatever you want by looking at the \mywidgetboard\languages\en.php file.
Do note that I am new to elgg but not to PHP, and this is my first publically released mod.
