Social Connect 2 (facebook connect and Twitter login) for elgg 1.7 and greater v2

Release Notes

  • Does this work locally for testing? I haven't uploaded it to a live server yet but it seems that every time i click the button it goes no where.

    I get this

    FB.login() called before calling FB.init().

    Any ideas :P?

  • #dario Went through everything and its up and running - the only quibble now is that on the facebook button only the logo is live..

  • This plugin is pointless. As far as I can tell all it does is authorize users with their Twitter/Facebook accounts then they still have to register on the Elgg site. What a waste of time. If the app doesn't log them in to the site then there is absolutely no point to it - all it does is auto-fill in their name & email address in the registration form. Makes the whole process totally pointless and not worthwhile.

    If I'm missing something please let me know as I would love it if a plugin lie this could work properly on v1.7.

  • This only happens the first time after that its autologin from what I see.

    The facebook part is a bit flaky.

  • So new user sign ups need to click the button to connect with FB then still register like normal. Then next time they come back and click the FB connect button they will be logged in instantly? That's alright I guess, but ideally they should be registered when click the button first. Otherwise it seems rather pointless from a user's perspective I think.

  • Not really its like most things that use a facebook login - you have to go through the facebook hoops so they can ensure that you are who you are...

  • Re my message about the surplus text - editing mod\fbconnect\views\default\fbconnect\login.php and removing the following (which is surplus and just a repeat of what already exists above it) gets rid of it.

                Benvenuto <? echo $uid; ?>
                <a href="pg/register"> clicca qui per registrarti</a>
                <a href="javascript:FB.logout();"> logout</a>

  • This is the little bit of code (fbtlogin.php) that generates the facebook buttion where the 'Facebook connect' text is not active on the button.

    <fb:login-button perms="<? echo $perms ?>"</fb:login-button>
    <div id="fb-root">Facebok connect
    <script src=""></script&gt;

    What needs to be changed so that the 'Facebook connect' is also active and clickable?

  • I'm amazed nobody was able to actually answer this...

  • @jededitor do you need chage:

    <fb:login-button perms="<? echo $perms ?>"</fb:login-button>

    with this:

    <fb:login-button scope="<? echo $perms ?>"</fb:login-button>

    but still dosen't work i can't find what is happen!
