This basic plugin is basically a container for 2 widgets.

Its original aim was to do what Elgg widgets pack actually does, ie allow select which widgets to activate.

Please better use http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/bman/read/499257/widget-pack-1 as a wrapper, and add one or both widgets in it..  :)

Web profiles :

provides a list or webservices profiles, which you can use to link to linkedin, facebook, etc. It looks like this :

You may add more profiles by directly modifying the widget code. Please let me know which services you'd like to integrate, with the service name + URL (and even better : with a 32px icon as well), so i can add them in upcoming versions.

The other widget is an ongoing work : it display one or more objects, selected by owner, container, etc. If you wish to work on it, please feel free to do so : i don't work extensively right now..
