• Thanks for your answer but I dont have these two options. What can be wrong ?

  • Perhaps you are not running the latest version from github?

  • OK. Thanks  but this one is said for elgg 1.8. I'm using 1.7.15 on the live site. Will it work ?

  • rvk,

    No. I'm not doing any further work on 1.7 plugins.

  • OK I see. I will check the new version's code then and will try to transfer these new settings in the old one if possible. Thanks again.

  • it doesnt work on 1.8,8 latest version from github

  • Tawhid, as you can see in the title of the plugin, it is for Elgg 1.7.

    You can try out:

  • Hello Kevin,

    I have downloaded and installed the github version on my elgg 1.8.3 and it works fine. However, I would like to be able to have the capability to close a poll. I do not mind modifying the code but I would really just like to give it back to you since you are the owner. Do you want me to send the updated code to you once I am done?

  • Is there any way to hide the results for user so only admins can see results?

  • I've installed latest from github into 1.8.8.  Works great.

    But I'm trying to see it on default home page. I've used the following in my theme but I don't see anything.  Or can you recommend a theme that does have the support that I can look at?

    Here's my code:

    $mod_params = array('class' => 'elgg-module-highlight');

    // polls
    if (elgg_is_active_plugin('polls')) {
        echo elgg_view_module('featured',  elgg_echo("custom:polls"), $vars['polls'], $mod_params);

  • To embed a featured poll using the 1.8 version in github, try something like:

                    // get the front page poll
                    $options = array(
                        'type' => 'object',
                        'subtype' => 'poll',
                        'metadata_name_value_pairs' => array(array('name'=>'front_page','value'=>1)),
                        'limit' => 1,
                    $polls = elgg_get_entities_from_metadata($options);
                    if ($polls){
                        echo elgg_view("polls/poll_widget", array('entity' => $polls[0]));
                    } else {
                        echo "<p>" . elgg_echo("polls:widget:nonefound") . "</p>";

  • Great Plugin - But I have a question: How is it possible to let users add answers to the poll? I added the add form from the edit page but how can I submit these new answers? I hope you understand my question :)

  • I notice the updated plugin is available on github, but not on elgg. Are plugins shifting to a new distribution system? It would be nice to see newer versions available here. I was having a problem with comments on polls at my site (http://community.elgg.org/discussion/view/1137690/broken-link-in-the-activity-river-listing-when-someone-comments-on-a-poll) and found that the github plugin solved it, but I had no idea it was available

  • while voting polls from widget option first time it is showing following result

    Your vote has been cast for this poll. Thank you for voting on this poll.<\/p>
