I recommend that you dont use this on a production site
It has not been tested on a live working site. Let me know your feedback and I would like to know if affects site speed at all.
I have made the messageboard compatible, if you wish to make a plugin or your own compatible then use the following code
new_notification(1,$user->getGUID(), $_SESSION['user']->getGUID(), sprintf("has written on your message board <a href=\"$url/pg/messageboard/$username->username\">click here to see it</a>"));
in your action script. Its really simple to do but if you need help then send me a message.
For the next release I will be adding more plugins.
Let me know about speed etc and outline any bugs you come accross.

Hi Mark, thanks for the plugin.
Btw, is this plugin works for other elgg actions ? Such as member join, file upload, etc ?
wicked
Great idea.
nice idea... congrats!
good idea
very good idea
not working for me!
my elgg version= 1.7.1
elgg notify is a misconfigured plugin. It has been disabled.Check wiki for possible causes.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Glad you all like it :) @hayaza - this release doesn't, I uploaded just to let people see what it does and to give developers a chance to make their plugins work with it. In the next release I will be adding more compatible plugins. In the mean time you can do it yourself with the code above. @adhish - make sure you have installed it correctly
not working for me activate the plug-in, a blank screen appears, I use Elgg 1.6.1
sorry, doesnt work with 1.6.1, its an old version of elgg and at the moment I dont have plans to make it compatible. the plugin uses elggs new code base which is not supported in 1.6.1 - i advise to upgrade to 1.7.1
well mark i downloaded your plugin and pasted it in the mod folder then i enabled it from the tool administration and then the message came that it is misconfigured plugin.
can you please help me out with it?
"To get started add drag the two folders into your mod folder"
This is why you get the misconfigured plugin notification - try replacing and overwriting the older files/directories
Hey, great plugin, but it says click to view comment, and I get a php error, is there a fix for this?
what is the url in the address bar when you receive the error?
nice one mark, this is a must need plugin for any elgg based site! when are you gonna release the production version?
Superb. I'm testing everything like crazy for a new (and first) Elgg-based site, and this module works perfectly as far as I can tell.
i dragged the two folders and it prompted me to replace your old folders and i did that. then when i opened elgg it said that messageboard is a missconfigured plugin but the notifications worked!
not working for me i see the notifications icon now but when i post something on wall nothing happens no notifications!!
please help me out and tell me what to do?? how do i reinstall this elgg_notify!!
Cim
defiantly coming very soon. It will also be elgg mobile compatible! I will be sending out a release candidate shortly for a few elgg site owners to test on their live sites to see if it works well. If anyone would like to test then please send me a message.
Adhish
Are you running 1.7 with the latest message board plugin?
Nice plug-in.
Bug:
The links don't work when you try to click them.
More work and CSS enhancements needed and notification icon should be changed to something cooler. :)
Suggestion:
Since the notifications plugin can notify for any updates through the messages plugin it is somewhat redundant when you have both notifications in your mailbox and this plugin.
Please put an option in the notifications plugin where you can check or uncheck if you choose to be notified through elgg_notify plugin only and the messages plugin will just serve as an internal email and no notifications will go through it.
Hi GMA,
As far as I know there shouldn't be a problem with the links, what page do you end up on? In regards to the messages - of course they will not be in the official release. This is simply just a preview of whats to come and to give plugin developers a chance to get their plugins working! CSS enhancements will probably change but site owners can easily change it to make it work with their sites.
@Mark Harding
The links I was referring are from the notifications. For example when I post in the message board a notification like this will appear: "User1has written on your message board click here to see it". And when you click the link, it returns 404 error.
GMA
What is the url for the 404 error?
@Mark Harding
"click here to see it"
