REPOST: Scroll on Top plugin 1.5 elgg+ v1.0

Release Notes

unzip to mod/ and enable from plugin screen.

  • I'm not sure how I feel about re-posting someones code that has deleted it. I realise that legally you have the right to do it I'm just a bit in a quandary about the ethical part. All that aside I'm not being negative about this just wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on this ??????

  • I wanted to edit this post but elgg.org in its infinite wisdom seems to have amputated the edit button

Be that as it may I just wanted to say I think that I would agree with the authors wishes and not re-posted his code but that is just my opinion

  • It's none of my business why the original author deleted his 'donation' to Elgg.   We talk every day here about 'abandoned' plug-ins, and authors who never seem to get around to upgrading their work for whatever reason.

I think, 'this' plugin is rightly regenerated, now if it'll just keep abreast of the changes to elgg, perhaps it could climb to the top of, "The Most Downloaded"..  And make BOTH authors proud.

  • If the goal is for elgg to be better, and for more people to use elgg, why would it not be ok to repost GPL code that was given to this community.  A user saw this on my site and requested it, I originally installed it because my site has the requirement to use only FREE (as in speech) software and it is GPL, it would be unethical for me not to repost it to the community.

  • This is one of the ideas behind Open Source.

No vendor/developer lock-in, because anyone can take the code and do what they like (as long as they release it under GPL)

  • it's the first time i see this plugin, why using plugins with many files if we can do it with simple html script ?

to scroll to top page , just write this simple code:

    <a href="#">top</a>

you can put an image for this, like

    <a href="#"><img src="URL_IMAGE /></a>
