Nice Plugin, a must have for any Admin.
Thanks!!!
Seems to be a bug somewhere, but not sure if it's this specific plugin or Mike's (vazco) version of Plugin Manager (v1.5) that seems to have disappeared from the site (when I click on my comment link on my dashboard it takes me to an empty page) - I'd installed this one directly on top of Mike's version as removing it (after discovering the bug I will mention in a second) caused the Tool Admin page to load without any of my plugins listed.
The bug - whenever I click the check box of a plugin to activate it, nothing shows up on the front end, and when I reload-re-visit the tool admin page the selected plugin has been de-selected and therefore not activated. I'm also unable to de-activate the plugin manager plugin for the same reason.
As mentioned above, removing/renaming the plugin folder causes all plugins to be removed from the page, so can someone help find a fix for this?
Thanks in advance,
LJ
Are you clicking "save" after you check the box?
Aha! Until you asked I didn't even know there was a "Save" button that needed to be clicked - I'd overlooked it at the top of the page as I was used to the "Enable All"/"Disable All" buttons being there! Thanks for the tip, now I can get on with setting the site up! :-D
Just a note from this experience, maybe having a single save button way at the top of the page isn;t the best idea. If only one save button can be incorporated maybe move it to the bottom since the more recent plugins are automatically added to the bottom of the list. Better yet have a small save link/icon appear next to each checkbox. Just a thought... ;-)
Hi, thanks for the suggestions.
These issues are addressed in Elgg 1.8, so I encourage you to upgrade to it when it comes out!
Life saving plugin!
Just for the record, unless all my current plugins (this should be heeded by everyone) are either supported by or integrated into the core functionality of Elgg 1.8, it's a very bad idea to upgrade until they are, as it will result in a loss of features for end-users (never a good thing) or even a completely broken site (worst case scenario)... ;-)
Yup this certainly helps things, good plugin!
Evan, you haven't forgotten to add the newest version here, have you? :)
Very good plugin.
I would love to be able to classify plugins in several categories (plugins, themes, tests, disabled, etc.).
Thanks!
Emmanuel -- you need to upgrade to Elgg 1.8 when it comes out! Elgg 1.8 comes with all those features out of box.
I have installed this plugin in hopes of solving a problem I have had with reordering my plugins.
It did not help
I am running 1.7.12 and made sure I have the correct .htaccess file that came with the upgrade from 1.7.11.
I am at a loss as to how to fix the problem of reordering my plugins.
This plugin isn't mean to fix any bugs. If you're having trouble, you should ask about it in the forums if you haven't already.
@captnbob: try upgrading to Elgg 1.7.13. Upgrading from Elgg 1.7.11 to 1.7.12 might have been faulty due to a bug in Elgg 1.7.12. Maybe the plugin re-ordering will work again after you have upgraded to Elgg 1.7.13 which fixes this bug.
am i right in thinking this is abandonded in favour of including the drag and drop functions into a version of 1.8 or higher?
Essentially yes, that is correct. I could port, but the main gain is already in core, and time constraints force me to fry bigger fish.
ok sure, thanks for the update
Hey, I installed the plugin without realizing it wasn't for 1.8. After installing & activating it gave an options screen -- but I couldn't do anything. I removed the plugin directory but it now says "invalid" screen for plugins. Reinstalling the plugin manager returns the admin screen for it but I can't do anything. Any suggestions on removing it? I guess I'll need to learn how to disable a plugin via the database. Any other thoughts would be apprecitated. Thanks
I found a solution - by removing the plugin folder & then going to the admin dashboard and clicking "upgrade" that apparently rewrote the file that was causing the problem. Would like to try this plugin once it's out for 1.8x though. Thx
This plugin will not be updated for 1.8. It was mostly merged into core already.
Hi,
I'm running 1.8.18 and I installed this on the advice of a friend. My plugin list has disappeared and been replaced by an empty list of plugins – now that I've read down the comments, I realise it's probably because the plugin manager isn't meant for 1.8, but I don't know how to deactivate it.
Any suggestions?
Tim

Thanks, Evan - but this doesn't fix it. The same screen comes up, but now with a message saying plugins are not being loaded.
Caches! Sorry. I turned off the system caches in settings and now I can see the usual plugin list and deactivate Plugin Manager.
Phew.
