i have a question. i have 3000 members on my website, and the hosting company i have only allows 1000 emails to be sent per hour. how could i modify this so that i could use this to send to my users over a span of a couple of hours, so that i won't go over my hourly limit?
You need some modifications to this script,
Using a cron hook is the only way for you for not crossing the hourly limit
hi there,
your plugin looks pretty good! but there seems to be an error when sending the emails:
when i send the mass mail i am redirected to the page: pg/mass_mailouts/progressWindow
then i get to see the upgrade-image forever.
nevertheless the mails are sent correctly! The only thing i can think of that might cause the bug, is my test system: most of my users have fake email addresses. But I quickly checked the code and couldn't find out more..
technical details
is this cron triggered
dude, my mistake! i realized that i was NOT using your plugin but another mass mail plugin instead (which has some bugs obviously
Is this compatible with elgg 1.6? I've just tried it and got confronted with the misconfigured plugin screen!

introduced error from 600 users Elgg version 1.7.9 ...
HI , Thanks a lot for this extension. I was wondering if you were planning to have a 1.8 version for this extension please? That would really be useful in our case please.
Otherwise have you got any hints on how we can make this work for 1.8 please?
Thanks a lot
Great Plugin! It works without issue on 1.7.11 =)
Upgrade of all our plugins to 1.8 will be done. But the answer for question "when?" cant be answered now as it all depends on the free time we have and our mood.
@RJ : thanks for testing it in 1.7.11
This plugin has been installed in perfectly 1.7.9. When run on a network with 100 users was good. But in a network with 2,500 people showed the following error:
NotificationException
Lost a required parameter, 'to'
@Vag : Some of your users in that list dont have a registered email. May be you are using twitter/fb connect plugin which wont share user emails.
mass mail out plugin for 1.8.4 version?
@Vag
why don`t you check users who are active in your community, and send mail to those peoples. so unvalidated user not includeed in mail function right!
@will be updated for 1.8 by the end of july
just looking for the update with a cron for quing mail sending.. will it have?
@Webgalli
Hey Team, I really would love to see this in action but I.m on 1.8.5 so cannot :( I see you said you should have it by the end of July? But we are in early Aug. Please could you release a BETA for the time being?
@all: the entire elgg notification system is planned for a revision in V1.9. So we may update this plugin only when 1.9 is out (Not sure, if we need it for development purpose we may upgrade it before that).
