What you can do to help:
Content Map exports a view that visualizes an elgg site's geotagged contents on an auto panning google map. As long as latitude and longitude information are available for any elgg object, you can use content map to view the objects as markers (with customization infowindow) on a google map. Plugins like vazco_gmap (http://community.elgg.org/mod/plugins/read.php?guid=384618) can be used to easily geotag any site contents.
A content map view requires very simple JSON formatted outputs of elgg objects. Examples are included in the plugin's directory. You need to have a JSON source in order to use this plugin.
This plugin uses Timothy Wall's google-map plugin (http://community.elgg.org/pg/plugins/openid_2268/read/384615/google-maps) to set google maps api key and site headers. If you choose to not use the google-map plugin, you can also set the maps api key manually.
Installation instructions and usage examples are included in the README file packaged with the source.
