  • I have tried this... a great improvement... many thanks :-)

  • Coolsam its not workin in 1.7.1 for ...... any ideas

Im testing on localhost... does that matter ?

  • @jaxcatz, are you sure it is not working?  On my install (1.7.1) the menu bar is not visible by default, you have to click the little down arrow.

If anyone knows how to fix it so it is always available (in a plugin setting perhaps) it would be good.

Perhaps it is this way to discourage too much html/images etc?  Many people will think it is a plain text box.

  • Yea Mark Im quite sure its not working in my localhost...

I knw what u are saying abt the little arrow... I saw it in the screenshot images before downloading..

so you have it working.... hmmm... I donno where I went wrong, its simple a simple plugin..if its working in 1.7.1... it shudnt behave like this...  lemme recheck again :)

by the way Mark, is it on a live site or localhost ?

  • I just put it up on my site upgraded from 1.6.2 to 1.7.1 and it worked first time.  I have no idea what your issue is... well beyond my IQ.

  • @Mark you were right. The plugin was developed not to show the advanced buttons at once. i did this just to get a clean view. what is your opinion. should i switch back to the classic style??

@jaxcatz i will check the installation today on fresh 1.7.1 on live host.

  • @coolsam :) okayyyy thanx :)

  • @coolsam001, I think this approach is fine for people who understand a little about such tools, but for newbies it could be baffling.  If there were some text "tip" explaining how to get the buttons, or perhaps have only a simple set available with a down arrow for the advanced options (if possible) then this would help those newbies out a bit.  Anyway, thanks for the work and the plugin... it's really cool :)

  • @coolsam yea IM joining in vth Mark... a tool tip wud or advanced select options wud be nice... I selected this tinymce in first place as it has more formating options and Indian languages also...

a tool tip wud be nice for many of the plugins out there and for elgg default as well...a plugin to write tool tip or any code which can be placed in widgets to show some tooltip wud be nice and welcoming for many newbies who wonder "where the hell am I" when visiting our sites....

some tips when you hover over a certain area to introduce funtions wud be nice.. for example a tip to show that you can drag and extend this tinymce by dragging at the right hand bottom corner --> along with the cursor/arrow change wud be nice..

We may think why as we are far more experienced of this atmos... But for newbies... :) it helps

  • @coolsam001... I have just tried putting some content into a page, bnd the editor had broken!  I have tried and tried to get it to work again, but I have had to go back to the standard one :-(

The add/remove editor does not work either... perhaps there is a JS error/conflict or something (beyond my IQ unfortunately).  It would be great if this could be fixed though... perhaps it is the same problem @jaxcatz is having?

  • @mark... I think so Mark... some conflict with 1.7.1 perhaps :(

its a nice plug... cud u get it working coolsam :)

  • @Mark, @jaxcatz thanks for your comments.I'll try to get it working in 1.7.1. Also in the new version you wont see hide/show add/remove arrow button.

  • @coolsam Thanks buddy :) I appreciate efforts taken :)

  • @coolsam001... cool... this will be a great mod.  I have always wondered why there were not more options available in the standard plugin... but yours will fill that gap nicely... cheers!

  • I get the following errors in the log under Elgg 1.7.1:

    File does not exist: /var/www/secure/mod/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/imagemanager

    File does not exist: /var/www/secure/mod/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/filemanager

Also, the arrow button does not appear on Mac versions of Safari or Firefox.

    Hope this helps.

  • @coolsam any developements :)

  • I run ELGG 1.7.1 and I installed this plugin yesterday and it worked for about a day.

    Now it does not function.

I'm wondering if perhaps it isn't in conflict with some other plugin that I've used in the last 12 hours or so.

Anyway, great plugin but I think it needs work.

  • @coolsam , I installed on 1.7.3 . Noticed the following issues

    1) Adding video is not working :- It shows it added , but after publishing it the video is not coming up.

    2) Allways user has to click on the expand button to get the full view of Tinymice .By deafult the editor is not visible

Thanks a lot for this great plugin

  • @bujji... I think you'll find that the htmlawed plugin is stripping the script - it would be nice if it did not happen though.

You can alter the behaviour of the editor by editing the script... have a look at the TinyMCE website, it gives examples and code snippits you can use... pretty straight forward even for a non programmer like myself :)

  • @Mark :- Thanks a lot , I will look into this .

  • I cannot get the plugin to embed flash vidoes in 1.7.4. Anyone having the same problem?

  • Works fine and no problem in  1.7.7

  • I see no advanced toolbar and no button to toggle it with Elgg 1.7.8
