  • @Ura soul, did you do an import of the new/existing fields? This is what made the difference for me with.

  • thanks for the idea.

i just backed up the fields and restored them.. and then re-placed the fields into the two field groups that i have created... the missing group and the fields within that group are still not rendering on the profiles.

i also created a new test group and moved the fields into that group.. that new group isn't rendering either.. hmm..

  • I have added a profile field named location which is set to field type 'location'. It now shows on the summary list even though I have not set it this way in the user summary control. Do you know if this is controlled by profile manager and if so how can I remove it. Thanks!!

  • Hello everyone:

I've a problem with this plugin.. if anyone has an idea I will be most grateful!!! Everytime I activate the Profile Manager plugin, the confirmation emails for new registers in the site are not sent!! I mean the people registering to the site do not receive the confirmation email so they can never activate it and cannot register..... Any idea how to solve this and using the Profile Manager plugin??

    Thanks in advance

  • @fantor i am not familiar with that issue in relation to Profile Manager. If you happen to find out the reason of your problem, would you be so kind to share it here?

  • I have used this plugin for quite sometime and find it very useful.

For some reason dependencies keeps showing that there are two that are not set as they should be.  This occurs after I activate the plugin.  Before I activate the plugin it shows they are correct and they are correct.

I am using php version 5.2.17, elgg version 1.8.16, profile manager 7.6.1

    TypeNameExpected ValueActual valueComment
    Requires Elgg version >= 1.8.9 1.8.16 ok
Requires Plugin: profile any 1.8 ok
Requires Priority After profile Before profile You have been Blocked!
Suggests Plugin: groups any 1.8 ok
Suggests Plugin: widget_manager any 4.7 ok
Suggests Priority After groups Before groups Missing
    Provides Plugin: profile_manager 7.6.1 -- ok
  • I should mention the plugin appears to work fine even with the errors.

    Thanks, Sam

  • I think you should add these two functionalities :

    - Allow to disable to change profile type

    - Allow to delete (or replace) the elgg default input fields (or at least their labels)

Otherwise, thank you for this great plugin !

  • Do you think you'll have complete the 'to do list' in three or four months ? Especially, will it be possible in four months to have group types ?

  • under profile fields is it possible to have field hidden on profile to users but still be editable to the profiles user! Like I have a mobile phone section but they can enter the the number with out changing "Admin only field" to no but then it exposes it to all others????

  • @samjones if the dependencies are correct before you activate it, they should also be after you activate it. Maybe something else is going wrong.

@adrienfabre things that are on the todo have no deadlines. They are issue i would like to resolve or are feature i would like to add, but require funding. It is also possible that someone else contributes to the plugin and adds features via GitHub. A trigger for us to add feature could be Elgg 1.9.

@LT that is not possible at this moment

  • Hi All / Jeroen:

Finally I managed to fund out what was wrong... I don't know why, but for some reason, (at least in my site), when activating Profile Manager, the way the system sent the confirmation email changed from php to stmp, so emails were just not sent.. I installed the PHPMailer plugin and... problem solved!!!!!

Hope this may help some other 'soul' in problems...

    Fernando

  • i still have missing fields on my sites' profiles.. so far nothing i have done has corrected the issue. i noticed that permission warnings were coming up in the logs for profile manager images.. the folders were set to 754 instead of 755.. i corrected that.. and still no 'about me' or other fields on the profiles..
    any tips welcomed.

  • Hello everybody,

i've create a mandatory field on registration form... but i can't see what the user put on that field before aproove. Any idea ? or how can i have that field on the validation mail may be ?

    (thanks to excuse my english)

and thank you for your help

  • hello i know this may have been asked but i can not find:

how can i set the profile manager to: only allow certain profile types to add files elgg

  • @UK you can not. Profile Manager will not limit functionality. Maybe you could do something with the Roles plugin http://community.elgg.org/plugins/852866/1.0.1/roles-for-profile-manager

  • ah nice ok that has solved the problem :) also how can i stop people from adding files only for admins or moderators etc? will that plugin do that? i have roles plugin already etc

  • @UK i do not know that, better ask around on the roles plugin page

  • Hi Jeroen, I hope you can help me out: I'm using the Profile Manager plugin and added some Profile Types, Categories and Profile Fields. Are there rules/settings of any kind I need to know in case I want to add custom made Profile Fields to a Profile Type? After drag/drop some custom made Profile Fields on a Custom made Categorie, these Profile Fields disappear for some reason from that Category....? Thanks in advance.

  • @MarcelBroek fields can only exist in a single category, but categories can be linked to multiple profile types

  • oh that sounds good didnt know that : )  @Jeroen Dalsem  have you got a link for a tutorial on using this plugin please profiel manager tutorial

  • i always wanted to do a video tutorial on this plugin, but i still not have found the time to do so. So if you are new to this plugin, just use trial and error :)

  • ohhhhhhhh would love that! let me know please if you get round to doing that would be nice :) inbox me if you do incase i miss it here

  • What is the best way? I have created 2 additional profile types (type-1 and type-2) and marked default type as "not to be shown". But when someone loggs in via facebook login, then the profile is created with the type "default". What is the best solution to avoid this?

a- "Shift left one": In translations rename "default" type as "Type-1" and introduce only "Type-2". For existing users this requires a bit messy data update.

b- Any way to delete the "default" type and make "Type-1" default instead? How?

c- Any other way to make facebook to use Type-1 instead of default profile type?

    All ideas appreciated!
