## Profile Manager v7.3

### Release Notes

7.3 (2012-03-15):

• changed: info icons replaced with elgg default info icon
• changed: version requirement to 1.8.1 to support info icon

• Hi again Jeroen,

I used your plugin back in the 1.7.x versions and have recently upgraded to 1.8.3. An issue i had with the 1.7 versions still seems present i was wondering if you have plans to address it.

Basically, the issue is that when you set a profile type and choose different profile fields for that type and then make the profile type changeable only by admin, the details of the new profile type are visible for users who are not selected to be that new type.

They can enter in the details for the profile fields they shouldnt see. Although, it doesnt appear on their profile page but still it seems odd to show profile fields to people who cant use them.

Hope i explained it clearly.

Thanks for any help and your plugin in a god send!

• After a bit more testing it seems to work fine when a tabbed option is used instead of the list option...

That'll work for me anyway but just thought id share,

Thanks,

• i can't use chinese language or other language?

• Hi Jeroen,

I've found a small error:

ERROR: Vars in views must be an array: page/elements/head

In the user summary control.

Additionally I have what may be a stupid question - did you remove the member search from this plugin?  I can't find any options to enable it for 1.8...

• @matt the search has been removed. We are building a new search plugin which will have the "advanced" user search capabilities

• @ciarn thnx for the detailed description of your issue. I will look into it.

• HI,

I m new to elgg I have created some profile fileds but now i want to change the server. what i have to do for taking backup of all the profile fiedls that i have created using profile manager???

• I have to say this plugin is superb, the advanced members search feature sounds interesting to, thank you for sharing

• Jeroen

Looks like pm_datepicker has a problem in the way it stores the date entered. I see that you are internally using keith-wood's jquery datepicker and passing the format as 'mm/dd/yyyy' but the value returned is in string format of type " "Sun Jun 17 2012 12:00:00 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)"

The value gets saved in db in this string format and when someone wants to edit this value the pm_datepicker shows up empty as it cannot read the value back.

Even the elgg  log file shows the following errors

date() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given" in file C:\\Tools\\wamp\\www\\elgg\\elgg-1.8.0.3\\mod\\profile_manager\\views\\default\\output\\pm_datepicker.php (line 16),

date() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given" in file C:\\Tools\\wamp\\www\\elgg\\elgg-1.8.0.3\\mod\\profile_manager\\views\\default\\input\\pm_datepicker.php (line 41),

I think  you want to save the value in database in UNIX format not string.

Did anyone else report this? I guess this is an issue with the jquery datepicker but I am not able to debug into jquery. Can you help?

Thanks

Animesh

• hola como puedo editar el tipo de perfil y agregarle o restarle privilegios dentro de la red?

• gracias de antemano

• Hi there, all!

One simple question: What happened to the advenced search?? Elgg's default search is practically useless!

Thanks!

• I have a issue I want to report:

-MultiSelect fields only show the name of the field but not the options.

Also when will the advanced search be available? As for a donation I could donate a dutch translation of elgg 1.8.8. (currently 67% - all user stuff, some admin stuff is still english)

• I got a error message like this.. any idea how to fix this sir,

[Fri Jul 20 04:11:44 2012] [error] [client 120.62.192.74] PHP WARNING: 2012-07-20 13:41:44 (IST): "date() expects parameter 2 to be long, string given" in file /home/aathira/public_html/test/mod/profile_manager/views/default/output/pm_datepicker.php (line 16), referer: http://aathira.net/profile/kbcsansal/edit

• Hi: The profile mannager plugin it´s excellent, but I have a problem. Almost all the profile fields is not respecting the format asigned from the editor. Most in the description field the texs looks awfull and seems to be ble underlined linked. Somebody knows how resolve this problem? You can see an example here: http://festivalesdedanza.com.mx/profile/TierraIndependiente

I will appreciatte very much some help,

• @jaime it looks you have your fields configured as tag fields or chose to show them as tag fields. thats the reason it shows with underlining. You can identify it as tag fields if there is a tag/label icon before the text. Just change your field configuration and you should be able to fix it.

• Hi - I'm wondering how best to explicitly set the Profile Type at registration.  I have 3 different profile types A, B and C.  I would like to set the new user's profile type to the correct one by using a URL variable.

Example: for a new user registering as an A type, the url could be "http//:www.mydomain.com/register?ptype=A"

Is this possible? and if not, how could I set the profile type correctly?  NOTE: I do not want the user to be able to set/change their profile type..

• Where is the documentation? how i can use this?

• Regarding the datepicker issue (the selected value is stored in the DB as a timestamp format e.g. "Mon Apr 23 1923 12:00:00 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time)" but not displayed back), the problem seem to be with the last piece in the stored value [(Eastern Daylight Time)]

I fixed it by replacing with following code in views/default/input/pm_datepicker.php

$val =$vars['value'];
$newval = preg_replace('/ \(.+$/','',$val); if($newval){
if((date($dateformat,$newval) !== false) && (date($dateformat,$newval) != date($dateformat, 0))){ // probably a timestamp, we can format it$dateval =  strftime($dateformat,$newval);
} elseif(($new = strtotime($newval)) !== false){
// time in date format
$dateval = strftime($dateformat, \$new);
}

}

There has to be a better way (using the actual datepick.formatDate function to format the DB value) but I could not figure it out.
