Jeroen, Could you test those mods friendsoffriends and people_you_might_know before you publish 5.6 and fix those errors?
on a custom text field i have a spot for users to enter their zip code. On the search page would anyone know how to make it search do like a 5/10/25/50/any mile radius search around your zip?
Leuk dat deze plugin stanaard in het Nederlands is vertaald.

I cannot find documentation how to translate the profile fields (and field options) I create. I want to have the label, hint and options all available in both English and Dutch. On this community I read one should not fill the starred fields, if you wanted to translate them. Should I add options to the en.php and nl.php in the plugin directory? and what should be the format?
Hi, I am sure this would have been asked and answered already, I tried to find but could not.
When migrating to this plugin from the default Elgg replace profile fields plugin, what happens to existing fields?
I have a estableshed website and I don't want users to have to re add all there details again.
Thank you in advance.
Kiwi.
@kiwi_chris if you configured the default Elgg profile fields, there is the possibility to import these to the profile manager. This way users won't have to enter their info again.
Hi im a new user of Elgg ... i use this great plugin at elgg 1.7.3
I have created default profile wth the fields i wanted very easy. I wanted to ask if there is the possibility to make all fields Public and not to give the option to user to select whether it will be public or not !!
How can i do that ??
Thanks
@webbuilders at the moment you can't force the access rules on (specific) fields. We are thinking about adding this feature.
Thanks i will wait for that release ..
I want to ask something else .. I have problem with Captcha when it is enabled from administration tools it appears not at the end but right after the last field that standar registration had.. i had added three fields in registration form and are shown under the captcha ..
What shall i do to fix it ???
Slightly disappointed in not getting any replies, I started researching the plugin code. Considering multilingual options for pulldown, radio and multiselect were still on the to do list, I did expect to find internationalization support for labels, hints and categories.
Unfortunately, Profile manager does not provide any support for internationalization yet. Rather strange for a dutch company with international clients? For translation of profile fields it fully relies on the translation support in the original Profile plugin. In order to use this Jeroen advises not to use the label field he provides.
To me the Profile Manager plugin is indispensable. But multilingual support for categories, radio and multiselect are essential too. So I added multilingual support for categories, radio and multiselect myself. An add-on plugin which does add the multilingual support can be downloaded from my website. Maybe people can use it until full multilingual support is incorporated in Profile Manager itself.
Thanks.
@mio multilingual content (as in pulldown options is not supported). But you can definitely translate the fields, hints, types and categories.
Hints are configured in the profile manager language files.
If you want multilingual support for the field names, categories and types don't enter a label. This way the profile manager will look for translation in language files. You have to enter these new translations in the language files yourself. Look at the tooltips when configuring the profile fields on how to do this.
I have problem with Captcha when it is enabled from administration tools it appears not at the end but right after the last field that standar registration had.. i had added three fields in registration form and are shown under the captcha ..
How can i move captcha at the bottom of registration form ??
Thanks
@Jeroen In the tooltips you write how to translate the label of a field/category/type and how to translate a category description. You do not write how to translate a field 'hint'.
I see the addition of translation support for categories in my addon plugin was in vain (as you allready support it), but my additional support for radio and multiselect options will remains useful (to me) until you add similar funcionality in your plugin.
Jeroen
I used replace profile fields, which if I am not wrong is a default feature alowing people to change the profile fields.
Is there a way to have these move over?
@kiwi when configuring the fields in profile manager there are some import options at the bottom. One of those is "import from custom" if i'm correct. That one will import your previously configured fields.
Sorry for asking again and again

I enabled this plugin, replaced all the default fields, and selected Add mandatory profile icon input field on register form- Yes.
But, when registering as a test user, I browsed locally for a picture, as required by the Register Form, and hit 'Register.' I was then activated just fine, but without the Profile Icon.
At registration, I not notice any delay while uploading the picture, nor any message that that was happening.
I enabled the plugin without any Profile Categories or Profile Types. I did not add "Profile Icon" as "New Profile Field;" that didn't seem right.
What am I missing?
No "Upload" button appears on the Register form. I presume that when the user hits "Register" it is supposed to Upload.
I have a strange issue with this plugin..
the 'about me' field is not editable in the 'edit profile' page (not at all visible).. when the plugin is enabled.
I am not able to add a new field called 'about me' (a metadata label error is reported by the plugin)..
'about me' IS visible on the public profile page but not editable anywhere.
If I disable the plugin I can then edit the 'about me' field as intended.
I figured this must be a glitch in my local install, but I've tried it on two installs now, one on 1.7.2 and also on 1.7.3..
any idea what's up?
thanks
@tunist :- When you enable this plugin you have to create your own profile fields inclusind about me . I am able to create that . Don't give space in the name field when you are creating it . So give it like this
Name :- aboutme
and the second field as :- About me
This works
hey bujji,
thanks for the tip..
I was able to add the about me field.. and can edit it ok..
however..
now I have 2 About me fields appearing in the profiles. the new one and the old default elgg one.
Also.. now, for some reason, the profile manager editing panels in the administration area of the site has 'broken' in that all the sub panels are displayed in one long list.. instead of as sub panels..
which basically renders the whole plugin broken and unusable.. hmm..
ah, I fixed the 'long page' error by moving the plugin to the bottom of the plugin list..
still have 2 about me boxes though.
I'm told that the profile icon at registration does not work. Is that the case? If so, a note up front would be helpful.
Does anyone know how to get a custom profile form to have a field the populates the "about me" field?
"populate" automatically ?
I have fixed the Datepicker issue with the help of another plugin.
