I tried your plugin and it's a promising start. Unfortunatly the layout made my boxes too wide for the theme I'm using and made them look aweful. It's a good start, but why override the theme style?

Well, this plugin is made to be compliant with the standard Elgg Theme ... and it is ;)

May be your theme have boxes width set, or have underground (headers gif/png) fixed width.

It should not. Anyway, it's easy to correct this in ordrto becom compliant and fit with the plugin.

The theme I'm using has rounded corners, and this plugin stretches the boxes so the rounded parts show. It looks bad.

I'm going to try and fix my theme. They didn't split up the box header image into 3 parts (2 rounded sides and 1 middle part) to allow for box stretching. It should fix my cosmetic issues.

@k5jat: You can also adapt the /mod/custom_index_widgets/views/css.php to fit with your needs, it will be simplier. Boxes has rounded corner, but it is done like elgg theme with some moz-radius/webkit-radius properties. And it doesn't work with IE.

I do all my testing in Chrome and Firefox. I don't use IE really for anything unless the site specifically asks for it.

Ok, I figured out part of it. I had to go with the plain boxes to get it to not show the theme graphics. Kinda plain now though. lol!

Good news for everyone who use and like this plugin: i began to migrate it in 1.8.1, and it seems to run the good way.

I will reuse the dashboard/profile new widget mechanism (smooth an beautifull), and the entry menu will be in the "Appearance" admin menu.

I will not migrate the "topbar" functionnality, because the new version of Elgg include all the stuff i wanted in my previouses releases of this plugin.

I will try my best to maintain the differents displays i proposed previously, may be in a more elegant way using css tricks instead of tables ...

Finally, I plan to deliver this new version before Chrismas ;)

i'm using elgg 1.7 and i'm not really keen on upgrading yet. I using this plugin but i want to add the google news widget to the index as well. how could i do this? i don't write code so well so please keep that in mind :D! thanks in advance!!!!

Mistakingly added the 2.4 widget and site went white.  I missed the obvious that it was for 1.8+.  I am at 1.7.15.  Happen to know where to go to disable this in .php page, or in database?  Stuck now and trying to fix.

modified the folder name and got back in.  uploaded correct one.  problem gone. amen
