Server Analysis - find off settings page. Some documentation in docs directory on how to use this

Want images on your front page? see tidypics/lib/tidypics.php

White screen - probably not enough memory allocated to PHP

Uploaded images giving up question marks - that's an issue with your image processing library (GD, ImageMagick, imagick extension) - check your server error log for more information

  • thank you TT that worked fine . Keep up the good work!!!

  • Thank you for this great plugin. it works fine!

Where can i found a tutorial that explan how to get latest images in home page?

I've decommented the block in tidypics/lib/tidypics.php but it seems that code must be copied only in the front page. Wich file must be edited?

Thx in advice and sorry for my bad english!

  • justme - that is an example of code that can be used in the custom index plugin

  • Couple of things, maybe addressed before.

    1. The order of pictures uploaded. Right now, the first picture uploaded is the last in gallery. Any way to turn this around. First uploaded is first in gallery?

    2. When someone creates an album with cover..but later deletes the cover photo..is there a backup cover photo? I am getting some 'No Photos' cover in gallery view..even when there are photos there. I am suspecting this to be the case. Any quick fix for this?

  • @orion9 - ordering photos is something we'll tackle once Elgg changes how it handles container objects. (Hopefully Elgg 1.7)

No quick fix related to the cover photo - we can add something for the next release. Best to add it to the bug tracker: http://code.google.com/p/tidypics/issues/list

  • I have a problem. The images doesn´t upload. I have GD installed and runing perfectly on my server.
Instead of the images appear an icon giving up question marks as is mentioned here.

how can I solve this problem?

  • lucky

Maybe try increasing the php memory. I had to increase mine to 64mb for it to work. You can do this in your .htaccess file.

  • php memory is set to 64mb.

I opened the server error log and I think is problem of directory permissions. I connected via FTP and I can´t change permissions of the directory because the user is set to www-data-www. I tried to delete the dir but i can´t.

Any idea? How could I set elgg to use always my FTP user as defult instead of www-data-www ? is posible? is this the problem?

  • You should be able to change the permissions by going to your server space acount online. log in and go to your files manager. should be able to do it from there. Also while you are there check you php.ini file to see what setting for memory is default.

within the plugin itself from your elgg site you can run a server analysis test to see if that helps . it is under the setting tab of the plugin. go to your tool Administrator

  • the problem is the user www-data-www. Elgg uses this user to create folders... How can I change on Elgg the FTP user to use my FTP user instead of www-data-www ?

I have tested changing folder permissions vía command line in LINUX and it works. I know the problem but I don´t know how to solve it.

Can you help me please? Thanks

  • Any reason why the slideshow wouldn't be working on my site?

  • @lucky - 1. can you upload photos as user avatars? If so, you know GD and file creation is working with Elgg and Tidypics should also work. If not, then your server is misconfigured. Any script will create files as the user that runs the web server so that isn't the issue.

  • @LKLaRose - is this a trick question? None that I'm aware of.

  • @Tidypics Team - I can upload photos as user avatars and files, but I can´t upload photos using Tidypics.

Changing the user folder permissions and owner i got it but just to try what is the problem.

I have realized that the "image" folder of the user hasn´t chmod set to 777, I think it hasn´t enough permissions. May be the problem is the way tidypics is creating the folder? may be I need to set the permissions when mkdir() is used? Any idea?

  • @lucky - with a properly configured server, I'd expect the album directories to have permissions 700 and be owned by the web server user.  This would allow the web server to read anything in that directory but no one else could. More permissive permissions could be used but the first number needs to be 7. Each image file should be something like 644 or 600 and be owned by the web server. Tidypics does not set permissions on files. That is controlled by your server configuration. You need to do a comparison of the permissions and ownership of the files directory and the images directory for a user and report back.

  • @ Tidypics team, here is the highslide integration with tidypics pluggin. get it from here

    cheers :)

  • @Tidypics Team - now it works. After investigate a litle ;) The problem was PHP configuration. The variable safe_mode was On. I have solved it setting it to OFF.

  • I have the same problem as @LKLaRose - the slideshow does not seem to work. Any pointers would be helpful.

    Many thanks

  • headtrip and LKLaRose - any information related to this would be useful rather than just a "it doesn't work"

  • Can somebody please tell me where to get rid of this ugly black rollover on my albums?

I've looked everywhere and I can't find it, it's driving me insane!

  • @Tai - that is not Tidypics but your theme. I recommend using Firebug to track down what css element is doing this.

  • I still need a slideshow that auto loads as a widget when someone first arrives on a profile, not a slideshow that has to be clicked on by the viewer, but one that automatically plays from right within the profile! I want to treat my profile users and their visitors as if they are completely lazy, not expecting them to have to seek pictures and slideshow features, but have them pushed right at them when they arrive!

Do on of these slideshows have capability like this? Can something be modified easily to do this?

  • When I try to use "Download Image" function I get error: "Image not available at this time"  help....

  • @TahoeBilly - the CoolIris slideshow is started though javascript (PicLensLite.start) so it is possible to start it on page load by calling it from the jQuery document ready event. You could write a plugin that extends a profile view and inserts the necessary javascript. You're going to run into issues of users not being thrilled that the slideshow starts everytime they visit a profile (it would drive me crazy) and you'll need code to figure out whether that user has any photos and what album to show on the profile.

  • @myoung - did a search through the source and did not find that message anywhere. Doesn't seem to be a Tidypics issue.
