BookMarks was primary made to bookmark an elgg page. As i didn't find how to create a bookmark pointing somewhere else in the world, as i didn't find the way to easily create a bookmark that have to belong to a group, and as i was frustrated not to be abble to set associated wide categories, i decided to modify slightly the bookmark plugin. Is it bad ?
This is much more a tweak than a pluggin, 99,99% of the original bookmark plugin is here, nothing is modified, just a few things added:
With this plugin, elgg can be more turned to a social bookmarking system.

Hi,
Tested on elgg 1.5
When trying to save bookmark it says invalid token or _TS
What could be the cause. Did an upgrade to clear cache and still the same
an idea is the possibility to share a bookmark after created, directly on facebook/tweeter
I'm trying this plugin on elgg 1.6.1 and for now seems ok :-)
It appears think linking of the web site does not work correctly. Whatever address you enter the link is invalid after you create a bookmark.
1 - It's not working when the user goes to see everyone.php
2 - The chmod off all files are seted to 777
;D
CHOWN
?
I solved the 1st error setting the chmod of /mod/bookmarks folder to 755 and of all php files to 644
I am testing on elgg 1.6. Works fine, except I cannot see how to add categories. Any clues?
Hi, would you be willing to modify this plugin so that it doesn't have the same name as the core bookmarks plugin? It would be nice to be able to have them both installed at the same time to compare.
Hi, I have just installed this whole site in a folder on my site. Everything else works apart from the bookmarks which, when I click to share a website, just takes me to the front page of my site, not to the folder.
my network is in a folder called ufos
the address the bookmarklet tries to go to is http://galileowasright.com/ufos/pg/bookmarks/Beth/add?address=http%3A%2F%2Ffineartamerica ......etc
which to me looks right? Could someone tell me what I have to do to get this working apart from moving the network to the root which is awkward as thats where I have the main site? Thank you.
Usually, this has to do with the level of permissions on the resource. If the permissions are too high (in other words, you don't have the right to view that resource), then it will redirect you back to the home page.
What you could try to do, as a test, is install it on a sub-domain and see if you have any problems. Then it is root-like in installation. I usually have my Elgg sites on sub-domains and they work great.
I should have put @1stAngel at the beginning of my comment, so that everyone would know who I was responding to. My apologies.
@Yakiv ah, ok, I dont understand really lol but I am moving to the main root as I may as well start as I mean to go on. I will try and get that done today.
@1stAngel - You should have a control panel with your hosting. Basically, you go in to where you manage your domains and create a sub-domain, pointing to the folder where you have your elgg software. It may be /var/www/html/ufos/ or something like this: /home/YOURUSERID/domains/galileowasright.com/public_html/ufos/, depending on your hosting set-up. So, if you chose let's say community as the subdomain and pointed it to the path of your Elgg software, then you would be able to go to http://community.galileowasright.com and perform your installation. Then it acts as if it is root and you don't need to make any other adjustments.
BookMarks - Enhanced 1.1 does exactly what it intends to do!
Hi
Have tried original Bookmarks and also enhanced 1.1. Have same problems as described by @1st Angel - when I click on bookmark to visit the bookmarked site it goes to Front page . Permissions are set at 755 (folders) and files at 644. Using Elgg 1.7.1 Have tried reinstalling plugs ins with no success.
Note that @1st angel site is on Wordpress - presumably gave up on Elgg
Any ideas to solve this once and for all?
Great plugin, works perfectly with 1.7.1, thanks for:
Enhancements in 1.1
I installed this plugin and it allows bookmarks to be visible in groups. Great!
Can I also create 'catagories' with it?
I'd really like to be able to catagorize my bookmarks in groups under sub-headings.
If this is possible with this plugin, could someone explain how to do it.
Perhaps I'm missing some documentation somewhere.
Thanks in advance.
All the features added by this plugin are now part of the core bookmarks plugin.
