Everything is possible ;) but in this case it's harder than you'd imagine, so we didn't do it.
I have done it in the past. I will make a pull request when I get a chance.
does someone already made friend_request ajaxed ?
Yes, even made a pull request, but the guys cherry picked it and left ajax out. You can probably find the pull request on github
