This module wraps the OpenInviter PHP library and provides a friendly interface for Elgg installations to add the import capability. We have exposed only a handful of supported plugins in the form since these were known to work at the time of implementation as well as were considered important. You can tweak the code to add more plugin support.
This module was developed and is used at www.socialtrak.com for the purpose of allowing users to invite their friends from other social networks as well as by importing their webmail address books.
Right now, the message sent is hardcoded in but one could provide a textbox to collect message from the user to tack onto the default message.
Feel free to report bugs or requests to admin@socialtrak.com
NOTE: OpenInviter Requirements: Your server will need to have PHP5 installed with DOMDocument support and either cURL or WGET.
Make sure you delete any old installation before you copy this over... there were problems with some of the unused modules like Twitter, etc.
For version 0.3:
- Updated to the latest OpenInviter libraries
- Added sub-menu under the Friends using Two page layout (just like invitefriends)

Thanks,
Chris
nice question...
this is a very important plugin for making social networking success.
Wow works out of box! Hope invitations will send over phpmailer! Great, thx Prashant Juvekar ...
Any screenshots:
It is nice plugin . but is not compatible with elgg 1.6 version.
fabulous - works first time with no setup.
if we need to update the libraries manually in the future can we just drop them over the top of the ones in the plugin?
Thanks a lot for this!
also I see the libraries for twitter and loads of other networks - how easy is it to add other providers to the list?
@jimbob - I have kept the list short based on networks that I tested. I tried twitter and that did not work so have not added it. In the import.php look for the list and add what ever you want. At a future date I would try to make this a setting for administrator. Also you can drop OpenInviter plugins into the OpenInviter folder (if you overwrite config.php then you will have to run postinstall I believe)
@ranjeet - I am using this currently with 1.6.1
@cube - thanks for the screenshots!
@christian - I think it provides the same functionality as the other plugin you mentioned which seems a replacement for invite friends with OpenInviter support... I have just extended support for OpenInviter on top of the invite friends.
i get following error.... i have disabled omni inviter as well
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class twitter in /home/asiatube/public_html/afghanfriend/mod/contact_importer/OpenInviter/plugins/twitter.plg.php on line 158
Can you delete the twitter.plg.php file and try again? I have seen that this file causes problems for some installs ...
thanks it worked perfectly
hi, thanks for this plugin...
I see it goes in conflict with twitterservice plugin and import.php cames with a white page.
now I disable it. Is it possible to resolve this conflict?
@lord55 - delete the twitter.plg.php from the OpenInviter's plugins folder.
hi, how many emails can you send. my host says i am allowed to send 750 does this depend on host?
@sam1 yes it will be your host's restriction.
ok thanks
@pjuvekar: The Facebook selection isn't working anymore. Something must have changed. Do you think you can provide an update? Thanks!
@Lawrence: Please use the latest 0.5 that I uploaded ... I upgraded the OpenInviters plugins and facebook should not work.
Hi Prasanth,
Im using 0.5 version.
