So glad someone has finally made an awesome chat plugin. Well done. Just one thing for me is when you invite someone to chat the chat box replaces the current elgg window. It would be much better if when inviting someone it opened up a small chat windown like when you accept the chat invitation.
Other than that looking really forward to the updates.
IE5 = internet explorer version 5
believe it or not, there's still a big population of the world using IE5 lol
Something else to prgram in when you have the time - the ability to choose between having the chat icon in the toolbar or a chat link in the dropdown menu.. reason is if you have something extra already in the toolbar the chat icon plays havoc with the rest of the wording in the top bar.
wow video chat would be great.
@ Jededitor - I think Jeroen mentioned in his last post this exact issue. It won't be an issue in his next release as he will be siting the Chat IM plugin to be situated just above your browsers Status Bar, floating so it moves as your elgg pages do, always staying just above your browsers status bar. ;)
Great plugin ! Nice piece of work !
I've just noticed a bug on Google Chrome : the top bar in the pop-up window doesn't show if you don't resize your window.
Everything works well and im so happy about this new plugin but to inform you, i only see 10 of my friends in the invitation window.
@zeronix and @Pierre Raynaud thanks for noticing the bugs. I confirmed it and added to my todo list.
IE5 = Internet explorer 5
Yeah, i get it now... IE5 is Internet Explorer 5... i was just joking.
This is absolutly great, Plugin is working perfectly but i believe a lot are using Vasco Topbar plugin, how could we integrate ElggChat into it ?
Thank you and great job again
@Fahad Al-Kiswani - I would wait if I were you. Jeroen has a lot of things to add:
Todo:
- creation of a chat toolbar (resides at bottom of the window)
- flashing taskbar on new messages/chatrequests
- block users
- show session info on join
- move all the js to a separate file
- reanimate smiley
- online/offline detection
Hi,
I have a problem using elggchat, i can see the bar but nothing in it : i don't know if it's because i try to chat with myself, it means that i'm testing it with only one IP and 2 users. Any ideas ? tried it with ie, firefox and chrome.
Bar works great, is there a way I can change the text that pops up when you hover over the close button?
"close elggchat tool bar"
Would like to change it to simply "close" or something else... thanks in advance.
Hi,
Even if the chat works with elgg 1.5 i'd like to know if some people had made it work with elgg 1.7.11
i'm a newbie with elgg and got an error "Form is missing __token or __ts fields". I take a look in the code, but any help would be precious.
Thanks
@Fabien: this version of the chat plugin is not compatible with Elgg 1.7. But there are two newer forked versions available that should work with Elgg 1.7. One version only makes the plugin compatible with Elgg 1.7. The very recent other fork has some other modifications. You should be able to find the more recent forks in the plugin repository.
Thanks for the help, i found this

if it can help people to not waste time on search.
