Installation:
1. Copy the gifts plugin to you mod folder
2. Enable the gifts plugin in your Tool Administrator
3. Select the amount of gifts you want to provide (click save)
4. Enter a name for each gift in the settings menu
If you want to add a pictures for your gifts, upload a png-file with the gift id
to the images folder in the plugin directory e.g. for the first gift "images/1.png",
for the second gift "images/2.png"

nice one really like this one. only thing i would suggest is to add like preview of picture before sending it when a user selects it. also add a picture in river.
This is a really great plugin! I've got some more suggestions for the future:
It would be nice if users before he was a gift sends can see a gallery of art, which are gifts possible.
Instead of the file name it would be great if you could choose a name for the gift. If I for example a heart as offering visual, it would be great if one could also call it as a gift.
Also would be great if you could write a short description of gifts to enhance the meaning to.
Another interesting show would be a widget for the profile, so the user can have the gifts he received wide.
Moreover, one could possibly be related to the whole payment and points of modules for a possible future commercial version of this plugin;)
A more important setting, I might suggest to privacy: In the admin area should be able to adjust the received gifts not appear on the dashboard, just to see in a romantic / love community must not be the whole community who pays what to whom:)

das ist ein wirklich super Plugin! Ich habe da noch einige anregungen für die zukunft:
Schön wäre es, wenn Benutzer bevor er ein geschenk sendet, eine art galerie sehen kann, welche geschenke möglich sind.
Statt der Datei namen wäre es toll, wenn man einen eigenen Namen für das geschenk auswählen könnte. Wenn ich zum beispiel ein Herz als bild anbiete, wäre es toll wenn man es auch so als geschenk nennen könnte.
Auch wäre toll wenn man zu gifts eine kleine beschreibung verfassen könnte, um die bedeutung zu erhöhen.
Ebenfalls interessant wäre ein Widget für das Profil, so das der benutzer zeigen kann welche gifts er breits erhalten hat.
Zudem könnte man eventuell das ganze an Payment und Punkte Module koppeln, für eine eventuell zukünftige kommerzielle version dieses plugin ;)
Eine wichtigere einstellung könnte ich noch vorschlagen für die Privatsphäre: Im admin bereich sollte man einstellen können das erhaltene geschenke nicht auf dem dashboard erscheinen, grade in einer romantic/love Community muss ja nicht die gesamte community sehen wer wem was schenkt :)

thank you for your suggestions. Some of them are already planned for the next versions of the pugin.
We would add the ability to add much more gift-types such as videos, different pictures and media files. A description of the gift is also possible.
Widgets are also planned (see the 0.0.1 comment thread).
Currently there are no plans to add the plugin to a payment system. Perhaps to the userpoint plugin. The turn river on/off feature is a good point.
By the way, I'm working all the day, so i have not so many time to implement all the features in the next days ;)

Lovely plugin and I am sure one that will add a great deal of fun to any elgg site!

On the 'All Gifts' page is there pagination or all entries listed on the one page?
There is a pagination after 7 items.

@Christian, when do you think the next version would be out with. changes such as icon in river and preview of gift...
what do you mean exactly with icon on the river? do you want the gift picture itself as icon or a generic river icon for this type of event?
For the gift preview i would say till next week. I have a normal job, and not too much spare time ;)
^^ i mean generic river icon. i knw u gota normal job, i just wanted to know how long we have to wait for this wonderful plugin :)
a generic river icon is not so difficult ;)
A quick hack
Add the following code to the views/default/gifts/css.php
then upload a gif with your river icon to the mod/gifts directory called river_icon_gifts.gif
thats all.
In the next release i will add the icon by default.

This looks like a nice plugin, i'll keep an eye on it.
Any chance it could be intergrated with the User Points API (1.1.2) so users have to gain points to be able to afford the gifts? Would make the reciever feel a bit more specially, knowing the sender had to spend some of his/her points to send them a gift.

I think not, because vazco would not be amused that i will provide a free of charge gift plugin next to his commercial gift plugin. I will provide an userpoint api support within the next releases. (See Sim2k comment)

Great stuff Christian! .. Have a talk with the guy that created the User Points API on how you 2 can work together and once done, i will definatly be introducing this to my members for sure.
IDEA - Nice to be able to create my own gifts as well which i think you said you can but this could be a good advertising feature. Get companies to sponsor some gifts. Example, could give a watch as a gift BUT say a watch company, FOSSIL for example would pay you to use a new watch they just brought out as the gif picture thus promoting their new product and the actualy gif link would linkthrough to the watch on the FOSSIL watch website. If its an expensive watch, it could cost alot of points as well. Same could be done for new clothing lines, footware, mobiles, drinks, cars. Companies pay to get their latest products put up as gifts in your gift area. Send a drink as a gift but it could be a branded known drink. Admin could set points for each gift type. A drink could be 25 points, a diamond watch could be 600points, that means id have to save up to send it to someone and someone getting that gift would feel extra special because they know the user spent alot og his/her points to give that to them.
Sorry, think i got carried away there but something to think about.
